| Thinking about selling an Old Comp |
|
|
|
Well im thinking about selling my old computer, because i might put the cash towards a newer PC, because my Mac is starting to become "outdated" and my old pc was outdated years ago.
Aside from that the old PC's specs (that i want to sell it as, without the HD) are:
-1 GB of Ram (originally 512 MB)
-2.20 Single Core AMD Athlon XP
-A few PCI slots and one AGP Slot with a Diamond-ATI Radeon 9550 256 MB Graphics Card in it. It has an old Intergrated on Board Graphics Device too, but that one sucks.
-Integrated Audio
-DVD+RW Combo Drive
-Standard CD Rom (read only) Drive
-Intergrated Ethernet
-4 USB on back
-PS/2 Connections
-2 USB 1 Firewire and 3 Sound Jack Port Thingy on the Front of the PC
-And an 8 in 1 Card reader with One USB on that As well.
-NO HARD DRIVE (Im not selling that Hard Drive even if i wiped it 10 Times, its data always retrievable)
-No 3.5 IN Floppy Ethier, the comp never came with one.
-It's an old HP from 2004 (a720n)
-The only upgrades ive done was add the other 512 MB Ram Stick and Get the Radeon 9550 when i started playing GW back in early 06'
-Theres also 2 SATA connections on the motherboard but the HD in it came as IDE
Aside from the fact that there is No PCIe Slots on the Mobo how much would you say this system is worth?

Anybody that wants to buy that still needs to buy a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and harddisk. Which probably is going to cost already $100-$200. I think you will be very lucky if you can find anybody that is willing to give you $100 for it. And that person needs to be living close by since shipping a CPU box is costing at laeast $30 too. It sucks, but old PC's are really just junk.

Yeah it's not really that top of the line, TBH on that card it dosen't get good FPS in any game except Diablo 2, lol. Guildwars and Everquest 2 i think came out to like 20 FPS give or take. And thats on a 15" LCD of 1024x768, any higher and it lags more...
It's still a really good computer for casual Web Surfing, and older games. Im sure WoW runs great on it, If anyone that plays ONLY diablo 2 needs a new comp this is also perfect for just that, and yeah you can push GW to run ok on it.
I realize its got some "miles on it" but i on't wanna trash it, because if i get a new comp the mac is gonna be the "secondary" come and i don't wanna have 3 comps. I got an idea in the back of my mind tho, my Aunt does need a newer comp and if she puts up with Windows ME, 128 MB of Ram and an old Gigahert p4 she would love this one.. so i'll just have to sit back and see how stuff goes down.
