Stumbled across this on Ign today. seems like capcom took a turn in making movies, seems interesting.
Resident Evil: Degeneration unveiled
full-length, entirely cg movie announced.
by christopher monfette
July 25, 2008 - today at the san diego comic con, fans were treated to the first footage from the capcom / sony pictures entertainment collaboration, resident evil: degeneration. making its theatrical debut this fall in japan and coming to dvd and blu-ray in north america later in 2008, this spectacular, all-cgi animated feature takes the zombie action to a whole new level with its ground-breaking visual effects and thrilling new storyline.
the "umbrella incident" that took place in raccoon city ended with a missile attack ordered by the government intended to wipe out the deadly zombie virus. following this catastrophe, the umbrella corporation's stock plummeted. this serious blow to the business giant resulted in its complete dissolution. seven years later, at an airport somewhere in the united states, on an ordinary autumn afternoon, a zombie is unleashed. now, in an airport beginning to fill with the undead, the horrific disaster is about to repeat itself... claire redfield, now a member of an ngo supporting victims of bioterrorism and medical disasters, happens to be in the airport while leon s. kennedy comes to the site on a mission to take care of the incident.
Resident Evil is so awesome, i may have played Resident Evil 4 about 8 or 9 times over and over because i like it that much, and played a little bit of Resident Evil 1, but i love the series.
hmmm, not convinced myself from that footage. i like the resident evil series well enough, but that just kind of looked like in game cut scenes, i.e. the cgi quality is ok, but with todays technology and cgi standards, i'd expect more from a cinematic/film film release (especially from a company with the amount of financial backing they have). its fine for games as usually its only small parts of a whole picture, i just dont think the style suits longer sequences.
I dunno, the cgi doesn't look that brilliant. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm a freaking resi nut and I definatly wanna see this, but it just looks a bit reminisent of final fantasy spirits within quality cgi. And I don't like how leon looks compared to resi 4 :/
Thanks for sharing though, still an awesome trailer =)

I agree 100% with this. As I said I'll still see it though, just for ships n giggles, and I guess that's what they're hoping, that lots of people will see it just because they're fans.

I agree, the CGI looks a bit dated.
And not wanting to offend anyone, with the Resident Evil Franchise it's about visuals, not story. So if visuals aren't all that...

Will more than likely skip this one

It depends, some people just like the shoot-em-up zombie games, despite the graphics. But as for the CGI.....look at Blizzards WoW intro video from years ago. To this date, some of the best CGI I have seen in a video game. You would think by now, years later, standard games would be at least somewhat close to that.
But, as with any game, graphics dont make or break a game, all they do is help sell it. Look at Crysis, beautiful graphics, but the gameplay sucked and many people were not happy with it. In terms of being a game, Crysis is an ok game but not great, in terms of graphics, Crysis wins hands down vs any other game out there.
That being said, its the same for this, sure the graphics might not be amazing, but if the game is good it will be popular and will sell well, despite the dated CGI.
Update in whenever I dont feel lazy.
