since i cant play Gw on my laptop (10 FPS is just not fun to play). I decided to buy a computer.
Is a 256MB graphic card good enough to play GW with a 40+ FPS.
With 4GB Memory, and a duo core 2.8 Ghz or 3 Ghz.
If its not good enough i'll wait till the 512 MB graphic cards a less expensive =]

256mb should be fine, but whats more important is what the actual gfx chip is, no point in having 256 or even 512mb of memory if its a slow gfx processor.
that being said, the slower gfx cards dont usually come with that much memory, so you're probably fine, just post the model/make and people here can confirm or deny it as beig ok.
rest of the setup seems perfectly ok

Aye, you can have 1GB of onboard memory but if the ''Graphics Processing Unit'' (same as CPU just for Graphics) is sluggish, you won't get far.
What works best is having a good chip and memory, but if you have to choose, its better to have a fast chip and less memory, it will then only stutter if you'd for example turn around in a game and it has to load new textures, rather then having every texture loaded but stuttering and stammering constantly.
Tell us which chip you got an eye out for, if you want to save some money i'd go for ATi, but choosing brands is something of one's own opinion, i prefer Nvidia on my own as i have a long history of driver problems with ATi, but other's love it, (lets not hold a discussion about it, its the same as Linux VS Windows)
Being a little out of touch isn't bad, your argument is invalid.

I will go for ATI ;)
Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E8400 (3,00 GHz, 1.333 MHz, 6 MB cache)
4.096 MB 800 MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [4 x 1.024]
256 MB ATI® Radeon™ HD 2400 XT
i know its not the best PC, but i dont have a lot of money ^^

Ask MWPeck, he's more up to date with ATi's side of Graphic Cards, best bang for buck.

I try to stay up to date with most things, but yes right now ATI has the best "bang for the buck" video card......the HD 4850, costs around $200, and performs better then some slightly more expensive than the nVidia ones.

If you'd give your Budget for a Graphics Card we could do alot more :P

its not a graphic card question, but it's related to the computer.
What's faster: 3.00 Ghz 6 mb cache, or 2.5 Ghz 12 mb cache?

So now that I have a
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX
GPU Architecture 8 series
Texture Fill Rate 36.8 billion
(per second)*
Maximum Memory Bandwidth* 86.4 GB/s
Memory Size* 768 MB
Microsoft DirectX 10
HDR Lighting 128 bit
I can kick ass big time right ;)

about the chip for a graphic card.
for example:
256 MB
chip speed: 1 Ghz
memory speed: 775 Mhz
and
512 MB
chip speed: 700 Mhz
memory speed: 700 Mhz
the 256 Mb will be faster?

i know i didn't post much and i'm not very credible but ill give my opinion anyways ... :s

I'm not an expert but basically it goes like that:
Every information from the pc needs to go first through the (VERY high speed cache memory) so how higher the cashe mem is how more the computer can store in it to acces it(FAST)...so thats a very inportant feature. But is that Level1 cashe? cus how huger the 'level' how further away the cashe is from processor.
and the number of Hz is the amount of calculations or commands the processor can do in one sec...but since the most of the processor are dual cores i would go for the 2,5Ghz
For the gfx card i would wait till the better 512Mb comes out.(depending if you have a computer that can run GW or if you REALLY need a new pc)
but thats my opinion, it's probably not the best but well i gave you hopefully some good info (althrough its very technical and you don't ned this info i supp :)

yes that should be fine :) (althrough i don't know that much about gfx cards)

does dual core/quad core means you have 2 or 4 processors of 2.5 Ghz? or are they together 2.5 Ghz?
if so i think i will try to buy a quad core :D
(thx for your info btw :D )

They are a single processor, but each processor has 2 or 4 cores in it, so they are basically like having 2 or 4 processors, but they generate more heat since its on 1 chip, and run at a lower speed then 2 or 4 seperate processors.
As for 2.5Ghz, yes, each core operates at that speed. As for quad-cores, dont bother unless you need it. Do you use your computer for gaming only? Then go with a dual core and save the money. If you do high-end renders or video/audio compression or other stuff like that, then get the quad-core, most games dont take full advantage of even a dual-core, so quads are pretty useless for most (not all) games.

i will use it for school/internet etc. And for a bit of gaming. Most of the time i play Gw ;)
the computer has: ATI® Radeon™ HD 2400 XT. Its not one of the best graphic cards. But will it be enough for GW?
And if i have enough money, can i buy a better one without having a lot of driver problems etc?

Dont bother getting a quad then, a dual will run all of those just as fast as a quad would.

I ran GW fine on an old ATI 9250 SE, granted I didnt have it maxed, it ran it at a decent FPS. I have also ran it rather well maxed on an ATI X1600 which I believe is older than their HD series. In short, an HD 2400 should run it fine.

All you have to do is uninstall your old driver (even if your getting another ATI), then install the new one for the video card you get and it should work fine.
