RE: video card going crazy

That's the secret cow level.

Well see if you can uninstall the drivers, then install the latest for that videocard, also might want to open your PC and check for dust as this might be related to overheating, do that first before considering buying a new card or taking extreme measures.

Being a little out of touch isn't bad, your argument is invalid.

RE: video card going crazy

If you kick your pc often, check your external connections
If you don't move your pc often, check your internal wiring connections
Update your Graphics Driver
Un-dust your video card
Reconnect your video card
Check power supply for dust
Dust-off power supply
Check motherboard
Try not to touch motherboard too much, but un-dust it still.
Check processor
Check software for any interfering programs
Run a 3d test on your computer
If problem persists... i'd suggest your video card is broken, or something related is malfunctioning.

RE: video card going crazy

Do you have similar issues with other games, or is it just Guild Wars?
If the latter, how about tossing out those fubarred settings and reset to default values for a bit?

Before we close the topic, if you could be so kind, what did the job? Reinstalled the drivers? Or was it overheating a bit?
Atleast it's not permanently broken.

Yeah, pardon me for saying so but removing your original question and replacing it with a "nvm fixed it" is not very sociable.

Not to the people who've been trying to help you and not to anyone who may end up having similar issues and hoping to share in your solution.

lmao ok, either a temporary corruption in the Graphic cars memory or an overheating issue, as overheating ''seems'' solved when rebooting, cause you take some strain of the GPU, run a game for a long period again and it'll just come back.
If it does, please check your computer for dust, and if your GPU has a fan see if its still working, some can run for quite sometime without their own fan if the casing has good airflow.

lol, always the first step on the help desk list of fixes

typical helpdesk scenario:

1. call back after you turn off and on again
2. um, are you sure you turned it off, THEN on?
3. um, please hold while i transfer you to a colleague

1 hour later

4. turn off and on again

Just be glad you didn't have an integrated card or a motherboard that cannot be replaced....

Somehow it still works.....like nothing happened...
