Class Abilities: Build up vs Stances

If you've tried out a few classes and got them up a level or five you'll have noticed most classes (I suspect all) have Class Abilities, which come in two flavours:

Build up: Here's where you get up to 100 Grudges (Dwarf Ironbreaker) or 250 Faith (I think) for your Warrior Priest.
Some attacks cost you Build Up points along with Action Points while others add to them and a third type is more powerful based on your Build Up. If you don't do anything, Build up quickly drops to 0 except if you get hit upon as a tank of course.

Stances: These are conditional systems. The High Elf Blade Dancer uses this system as well as a few others. Here you set up chains of attacks/skills. Skills will work only if your current stance is A and executing them switches you to Stance B. While in Stance B you can execute skills that'll bring you to Stance C, or some will return you to A. Not doing anything reverts you to A eventually.

So, what system do you prefer, and why?
Would you have rather seen your main class with the other system. Or does your class use a third system I'm not aware of?

RE: Class Abilities: Build up vs Stances

So, no-one have any thoughts on game mechanics at all? :-(

It's best if you can laugh at yourself. Because if you won't, others will. It's always bestest when you're the one doing the laughing.

In online games, if everyone else looks like they're lagging, it's really you that has the problem. In real life, when everyone else looks like an idiot... well, you know.

RE: Class Abilities: Build up vs Stances

Im actually liking the game/mechanics. Iv got a rank 12 white lion that has 2 buildup skills. I also like having the ability to run around a map and just pick up random groups to join. Its quite handy, no spamming on chat channels and everyone is usually helpful. I love that I can switch between pve, jump right into a public quest, or just run into a rvr area for some pk when I want. All in all I like the way the game is setup so everyone has access to the aspects they like the most right off the bat.

RE: Class Abilities: Build up vs Stances

Ive pretty much played all of the classes except for the dwarves cos Im not a fan of dwarves ;)

Currently playing a Swordmaster and an Archmage.

The Swordmaster is something you can compare to the Assassin in Guild Wars in that each move you use progresses you to the next step in the chain, getting more complex moves as you move up.

The Archmage (as it stands) has a very strange build up characteristic. For each healing spell that you cast you gain 1 point towards high magic which reduces the cast time of your next offensive magic spell and increases its damage by 5% per point to a maximum of 5 points. At 5 points, castable skills, like Radiant Lance, become instant and do 25% more damage. Reverse the roles and the same principles apply to healing spells as well.

There isnt a strict relation between the two class abilities. Each character has their own special trait, its what you make of it that matters :)
