Icon Eye for the Superhero Guy

Specifically, what's your method to picking a new costume? By the time you hit 20, were you tired of the duds you first created for your toon? Is the costume integral to the character? Do you switch often while playing?

I'll share my thoughts, since they're short. I've only had three characters achieve level 20 (my name is Grumpy, and I'm an altaholic).

Moray desperately needed a makeover after I bungled her original costume. So her second costume was a remake of her first, done right. Only later did I realize I could go back to Icon and make changes to the first costume (they don't tell you that in the manual). So now she has two: her regular, crime-fighting bikini, and a more serious costume that she dons for missions.

Proconsul has his regular armor, and an alternate set of stealth (read: darker) armor. The former is for daytime activities, while the latter he wears between dusk & dawn.

Joe Neptune is a casual guy, so he has two sets of casual clothes. I generally change outfits once, when I start playing him, so I alternate between each.

And that's only three heroes, with three different ways of wearing the wardrobe. What's your style?

Well Sapph has all 4 of her costumes (and I think we may get a 5th if the space on the test server is anything to beleive)
One is her 1st costume... I changed it once or twice for goofs... but I changed it back... #2 slot is a tasteful top with bikini bottoms that I got especially for my cape :) #3 is currently held for my Hami raid costume... no cape, no aura... it's actually now coppied over in different colors to my new characters because it the costume I dinged 50 in :).

Then #4 is saved for random... I feel like changing it costumes... A buddy of mine told me it looked like Tomb Raider.... glasses, t'shirt like top, leather pants... you know. Something you don't mind following around :)

I at one time, because I was the SK of my friends for so long, made copies of their costumes, and depending on who I was teamed with I wore their costume... then a friend of mine actually made one back to mimic mine.

For Encore, outfit 1 is my superhero outfit. The cape, the black and red tights, etc. Outfit 2 is my "clubbing" outfit. No shirt, flame tattoos on the arms, cargo pants...fits the theme for my SG.

i'll post some screenies later, but i also have all 4 slots full

1 my origional
2 my party outfit
3 my "i' a superhero" outfit
4 my *coughs* bathing suit (it is a long story)

i also use the same colors for all of my outfits (Liz likes blue) and only one has a cape and that is the least used for me (it gets in the way of my view while flying) and when i dance i change into my party clothes, and when i feel a little adventours i wear my bathing suit... unless of course i logged out in my #4, then i just can't bring myself to change back

also when i team w/ people for the 1st time i always make sure i'm in my origional outfit

I have 4 costumes for Darkpool:

1) The original costume (now the Nictus costume)
2) Training outfit (complete with anime-style chi energy)
3) Kheldian outfit (the glowing eyes)
4) "Darkbrid"

I have four for Gibraltar...

1. Formal SG uniform which is the colors of Gibraltar's flag.
2. Battle uniform which is black and white leather for the SG mode
3. Her naughty side, nicknamed the Vixen by my SG mates, purple with a green aura.
4. RP look, stone skin with a smokey aura.

Vixen is the only costume with a cape, being a stone/stone tanker, a cape just doesn't work with the powers. The fourth costume will probably change when issue 4 goes live...gotta shop and try the new clothing line coming out. hahaha

I have many toons, but only one toon has multiple costumes, and then only two. She is Joule Watt, my blaster. One is her standard tights and cape. After taking so much damage over her career, she had Serge from Icon build her a fashionable suit of armor. When she is about to go into a very tough fight, she will switch into the armor. I find that I build the outfit I like the first time, and anything else does not seem right, so I have not ever changed costumes other than to add a cape.

For most of my heroes the additional costumes are variations on the original. My thought is that a hero may want something a little different but their first costume usually refelects their style, so I tend to make minor changes.

With frankie his second costume is also a variation, but a little different approach. He doesn't "dress like a hero". He normally (first costume) wears black leather pants, a tank top with a white hand, neat short hair and glowing blue eyes. When he goes into a tough situation (AV, elite hero or TF) he goes to costume 2. Leather pants get a fire stripe, shirt comes off, eyes glow red and hair is spiked. I havent decided on a third costume (1 level away) but hopefully I will get some inspiration on the way.

Doc V the scrapper has his number 2 that he rarely wears because it needs a makeover. It was part of his original "theme" that I adjusted. I am going to keep it but need to change a couple colors to match the newer ones.

Whymsy has 4 slots ...my original is gone in it's place sexy dress with sparkley aura ...PARTY TIME
the other two are super hero with aura and cape same leather different color
then a serious fighting no aura -- no cape,,,,jeans and t-shirt...hair up under a cap...that way everyone knows this is business!!

It's good having a "business" costume. Particularly in big groups or raids. No special effects to slow down processing. That's a good thing about my #2 costume. Nothing special about it.

Ice has his four slots
1.) ws my original that I got completly tired off now he has on Pink armor with a yellow undershirt and pink pants and yellow cape and pink banadana and sparkly aura ( it is what you when you let a 3 year old pick your colors and designs)

2.) is my all white classic icy uni complete with white cape and electric aura.

3.) is my outfit for my honory supergroup that has a ton of fire tanks and colors are red and black so i have red and black with the electric design..and a firey aura so i fit in when i play with them.

4.) is my orange t shirt and orange pants with yellow racing stripe on the side..and the mandatory victory cigar...this has no aura or cape it is for hami-raids and big fights

I've never hit 20, but if I did I don't know if I'd make a totally new costume. I might do variations on the old one, like one with a different hat or or with shorts and long pants. A battle armor that looks like my regular costume might be cool for some toons. Rhinestone Cowgirl is getting the closest and besides her cape I was only thinking of a little change in her hat to go better with the cape, or maybe some little tiny details to make the cape look kind of like a girl Elvis.
