Imps, Pets

I just began playing the game some 2 weeks ago. Got a gnome warlock n heard that at level 10 u get to have the big blue demon pet.I was very excited (newbie happiness:P) n couldn't wait to reach lvl 10!

However, at lvl 10, got to my warlock trainer in Kharanos (did i spell it right?),but i didn't get any icon to summon the blue demon!!Thought there was a bug in my pc or whatever, but then i went to IF n asked for anyone to help me to get the blue demon..

Imagine my surprise when someone finally said that i had to go to Stormwind to get my blue demon??Hun!?!!!! I mean,y can't any warlock trainers give me the power to summon the blue demon?

Wanted to know if i have to go to Stormwind only if ever i had to get a new summoning power for a new demon? N can anyone give hints or advice to where to go at which level to get the best warlock training...(if u get what i mean?:P)

Thks in advance....
Cheers,
Newbie in practice:)

Well no..and that is because it is not the Warlock trainers that give you the quests for the Warlock pets. As far as training Warlock skills go any Warlock trainer will do. Pets are a different story though.

The Voidwalker quest is given by Gakin the Darkbinder who resides at the Slaughtered Lamb in located in the Maqe Quarter of Stormwind. He is in the same room as the Warlock trainer. He will send you on a quest to retrieve the Bloodstone Choker you will use to summon and defeat a Voidwalker. This is done in the summoning circle also located in the Slaughtered Lamb.

This is the same NPC that will give you pet quests through Fellhunter at least. Having not had a warlock beyond 32 I can't say for sure whether Infernal and Doomguard are given by the same NPC or not.

Re: Imps, Pets

Your pets and their associated levels are as follows:

Imp - Min. Level 1

Voidwalker - Min. Level 10 (Quest)

Succubus - Min. Level 20 (Quest)

Felhunter - Min. Level 30 (Quest)

Felsteed - Min. Level 40 (Spell)

Infernal - Min. Level 50 (Quest)

Doomguard - Min. Level 60 (Quest)

Dreadsteed - Min. Level 60 (Quest and Spell?)

After level 1 the pet quests basically come at the 10's skipping level 40 where you get your first mount instead. I am not sure how the Level 60 Epic mount works though since it is a new addition and I haven't had the opportunity to really research it yet. I believe there is an associated quest, perhaps someone with a high level Warlock could confirm that.

RE: Imps, Pets

for my understanding yes you get the first mount free but the epic one cost a crap load like the rest of the epics.

Re:

Dreadsteed of Xoroth is the epic mount quest. It's an extremely loooooooooooong chain quest that starts from the Rage of Blood quest.. and i mean long chain. about 9 or 10 quests to get to epic mount i believe. Did it so long ago

RE: Imps, Pets

The infernal and the doomguard are 2 seperate pets and are not trained by the warlock trainer.

They are obtained by seperate quests.

Infernal starts in felwood .. doomguard in blasted lands near the dark portal. The quests aint easy to do and uptil now the pets are really NOT usefull at all :)

They are just a novelty to have.

RE: Imps, Pets

If u are new with warlocks then u should read this:

The imp as a pet is good for a low level but when u get the voidwalker you should go and get in a group....or by yourself if ur brave. And go to a higher level area(one that u would die by yourself) then summon your void walker. Now this response is only for noobs. If u are a noob u need to understand hate. hate is what makes a monster attack u or someone else. now with you void there send him(or her) at a monster BEFORE u attack let it get the first hit then hit the monster with you DOT spells then lay waste at it with shadowbolts. now if your void is getting low on health then make it use consume shadows(if u don't have it get it) it will make the void heal itself. good luck.

Welcome to the boards, Kyle, but I do have a problem with what you wrote.

Unless I'm reading this wrong (and that is always a possibility) this would actually be a very bad strategy. First off, Voidwalkers have "taunt" which means that even if the warlock gets the first hit the 'walker can still pull the aggro much like a warrior or druid in bear form. Then the recommendation to use "consume shadows" if your demon needs to heal won't work if you are still in combat. If your voidwalker is still in the middle of a fight and it is almost dead you would be better off "sacrificing" it. The shield it can make will let you either get in the last few hits to kill the creature or run out of pursuit range.

RE: Imps, Pets

Kyle's info isn't all that far off, but you won't be fighting much more than +1 or +2 mobs at first, even with your disposable tank the Voidwalker.

A lot of Locks grind through non-elite type quests solo because they are a DPS caster with a tag along tank. It's also a nice set to use for a gatherer because you can ninja herbs and ore viens while the Void takes aggro for you.

After you start to hit the bigger instances, you will have use for the Succubuss in a similar way that teams use Rogues to sapp enemies to take one out of the fight. You can start practicing with the Succubuss as early as the Deadmines, and I recommend it. I'm a little behind the learning curve. So I'm having to practice regularly with mine. I leveled up with a Rogue and a Hunter, so I've been "Off Tanking" with the Void for most of the trip to 60. For teams without a Rogue, the Succubus is a great asset.

The Felhunter...... Well, I'm still trying to figure out where he plays into this. So far he's just in the line up, but just for show.

The Infernal. A fun pet to have, but requires regular re-Enslaving to utilize. Not something that your team usually wants out. If you loose controll of it, it attacks you and your team.

The Doomguard....... I don't know any raiding groups that will even allow you to summon it. It's a great pet if you like to repair your gear, and the whispy appearance of a ghost is appealing.

As for your mounts. The first one is relatively free. The Felsteed. The Dreadsteed on the otherhand is anything but. It requires high priced items from 3 different gathering skills. Black Dragonscales, Dark Iron Ore, and Elixir of Shadow power for starters. You need a lot of each. Go check out the Auction House for some examples of per each prices. I reccomend you have a good list of friends with some of these skills before you even attempt it.

There are additional items like Jeeve's Jar and other assorted items needed for the quest that are also extreemly expensive. I'd say it's still cheaper than your standard epic mount, but not by much if you are a loner.

So far, I have Alchemy, I can make the Elixir of Shadow Power. (Hunt for the Ghost Mushrooms in a cave surrounded by Oozes in the Hinterlands.)

My buddies in the guild have the skills to get me Black Dragonscales, Crookit is a leatherworking Rogue, and the Dark Iron Ore, Kjell is a miner/Blacksmith.

This is where the skills to barter you have learned from level 1-60 will come into play. Find what you do that is worth a lot of money, make friends with those that have the other skills you will need, save a lot of coin in the process. If you have to buy the requirements for the Dreadsteed quest at face value from the AH. OUCH!
