Johnny5Pug basic command reference: .list .join .leave .sub .callsub .listsubs .last (typing .commands in channel will display all commands)

1) What is a PUG(Pick-up game)?
In a pick-up game, you have 10 people. Two of those 10 poeple are captains (2 captains, 8 other players). After the captains pick teams, everyone decides on a UT2k4 server to play on, then heads to TeamSpeak if they wish.

2) How do I join a pug?
When you join the #2k4ctf channel, type ".list". This will tell you who all is currently in the PUG. If you want to join, type ".join". If you have to leave before the pug starts, type ".leave".

3) How does a pug start?
The pug starts when 10 people have typed ".join". When this happens, the pugbot will ask for people to volunteer to be a captain. To do this type ".captain". Once two people do this, captains will start picking teams.

4) Ok, there are two captains, what happens now?
When there are two captains the pugbot will show the 8 remaining players the captains can pick from. To pick someone use the number to the left of their name.
example: 1) sharkattack 2) bilbo 3) wankster
If you want to pick bilbo, you'd type ".pick 2". The pugbot will tell you when it's your turn to pick again.

5) Cool teams are picked, now what?
Type ".ts" and ".servers". This will tell you the ip of the TeamSpeak server and the UT2k4 servers. Connect to the TeamSpeak server and find your team. Then connect to the UT2k4 server, and own some bitches Smile

Rules
1. You need TeamSpeak to play. Free Download here http://www.goteamspeak.com/downloads.php
2. Specs must be able to sub.
3. The captain that picked second gets first map pick.
4. If 8 people are on the game server and 5-10 minutes have passed, you're qualified to get subbed. Exceptions, such as you've told someone you're restarting, taking a piss, etc.
5. No excessive abuse. Friendly insults are fine, bashing needs to be taken elsewhere. Yes there is a difference Wink. Outcome up to admin, can include 1-2 day ban.
6. Leaving pugs without a sub results in 1-2 day ban. Talk to admins AND your team if it's an emergency (girlfriend calling isn't an emergency). Excessive "emergencies" = ban.
7. Sabotaging pugs for any reason is a 2 day ban.
8. Clan arguements stay in clan channels plz.

- If you would like another map added, post here or talk to one of the admins in the channel.
- If you have a server and would like to contribute it to pugs from time to time, talk to one of the admins.

I'm not going to rant on TAM... but your map list is not that good., sorry.

also teampseak is crap for voice quality... literaly. Vent sounds like a phone (or close to it). The voice quality is out of this world. Some people say that it lags, I personaly have never had a problem with this. Upgraded ventrilo with the correct codecs is the best voice feature out there.

I'll get on the vent thing.. first thing
it shouldn't hurt to have both in the channel.. and let people choose which one they want to use over time

those are the maps TWL teams play for TAM atm.
what maps would you rather see on there?

Well if you are trying to carbon copy TWL then do so (and the map list would work for that).

However I never liked TWL's map list. At least for the gametypes I play, the map list is not an accurate reproduction of what is played in tournaments, and there tends to be a fair amount of "junk" on there (junk are maps that are on the map list but nobody in their right mind would pick). It might be a good idea to note the most commonly picked maps (and the best) and thus use maps as your map list;)

As for vent. It has been my experience that people are extremely stubborn in voice coms preferance. The best bet is to try out vent, and let people argue it out.

Most vent users (myself included) came from ts2 and never looked back after we tried it.

Every TS2 server I've used has been crystal clear. I think it mostly depends on the codec that the server is using.

Err not so. Vent is lightyears ahead of ts2. It's a great product try it out.

I think vent uses more CPU resources in my experience. It sounds better but honestly TS doesn't sound that bad... having a bit better sound quality isn't going to make a big difference in the game ;)

I go back and forth depending on which server I'm using, so I don't really have a preference. I've had more random problems with vent than with TS though, although vent does sound better, so it's a tossup for me.

True, thanks for noticing. The reason DM-Drathi was not added to the list before now is with all honesty, we've never seen it played ;)
some players even vote for a different map in the middle of it on public servers.

Following maps should be removed:

DM-Asbestos - too large, and there aren't enough shortcuts
DM-DE-Osiris2 - easy to camp on roof, and there's only one way to get up there without taking damage (through a tiny hole that is easily guarded)
DM-Metallurgy - too large, and suck-factor is too high
DM-Deck17 - whichever team spawns closest to the upper camping deck wins

I have barely seen any TAM matches in Metallurgy or Asbestos, unless on servers with crappy rotations and no map vote.

However, even though I won't argue with you about Osiris and Deck, a lot of people are playing them at this point.. so they'll stay for now.
