It is a very hard quest. When you die with your whole party you will be revived in the middle of a huge charr mob. It took us (with a good party actualy) 45 mins to clear all out. With -60% (max) morale loss. It was really hard, and it felt like satisfaction when we finally made it.
Hero Amun Ra --> Ele/Ran lvl 17
Sjaak --> Meleandru's Stalker lvl 16
Kitabatake Tomomori --> Ran lvl 5
Yay our first lvl 20 guild member ;)
Current Guild: HoeR -> Heroes of enchanted Realms
Hoer is also a Dutch word, try figuring out what that means XD
Active with MS lately so not much online

HAHA! That was exactly what happened to me, I had -60 moral, and I respawn only to get destroyed again by the mob, and I respawn again and again, until I pick them all off haha!!

Yeah, not fun at all. And when I first did it, it was broken! There were no ashes! So I actually had to do it twice. :/

Exactly what happened to me. I had to do Quest twice. Once for me then i helped a guldmate. Had trouble both times. We ended up FINALLY killing the stupid Archer at the top of the stairs cuz the shamans kept healing them.
Ne ways we finally did it.
Another impossibly hard Quest is Villany at GArenth or w/e.
Still havent completed it yet.

It was potentially a very hard quest, but it all depends on how one approached it. Obviously you have to clear a path to the altar. But you don't actually have to kill all the monsters. Once you clear the way to the top of the steps, you can just run past.
It's not good roleplaying, but it does help - especially if lots of your group members AFK >_<

There are probably several different eyes looking at this.
I remember first time I did it, wow did I die a lot and failed over and over.
But now when I am on my like 10th (restarted some a few times lol) I walked through it with my level 9 ranger/necro and 3 henchies.
I think it depends a lot on which weapon you brought, I had a max dam bow with nifty upgrades and damage etc, also had the gear from Ascalon city, which is a great improvement from the pre-searing gear.
I actually thought they had downgraded it, but no one could agree to that.
So if its the first time around it, expect your behind to be up for beating.
And as above stated, the trick to get to the ashes is 'just' to take out one group of charr at a time, they are around 3. Getting to the grounds around the alter walk along outside towards Dragon's Gullet and some of the charr is lured down and you can whack them at distance from the rest.
Talking about tough quests: Thunderhead Keep is really getting on my nerves.

I've done the quest several times with groups and with henchies. If you clear a path to the alter-pick off the charr that will come to the bottom of the steps- then hit the alt key for the alter and run to it and click everyone in the group should get the ashes- if they are alive. It helps if one player preferably a warrior "takes one for the group" and charges to the alter while the other players distract as many charr as possible.
This works well if one of your party still needs ashes repeat the plan again and have them run and click on alter.
As a side note I was lucky enough to be in a party that actually cleared all charr we all waltzed to the alter! LOL
Thanks for reading and good adventuring!

i have to agree with you guys it is a hard quest but not to hard. i actually got around it pretty easy. now villany is a whole different story. i died and died and died again. i was dead for most of the quest.
