I was looking at the zones part of cityofheroes.gameamp.com, looking at the Sewers to be precise. Anyway, it said something about the beast in the middle. Is that supposed to mean the hydra? because thats in the middle of the abbandonned sewers.

Hrm. I've never actually gone into the regular Sewers. I'll have to check it out sometime.

Yes they mean the abandoned sewers, theres nothing in the middle of the normal ones.

but the abandoned sewers are in the middle of the regular sewers, so they are probably talking about the hydra, you just have to be of a high enough lvl to get to the middle of them
and the sewers (the regular and abandoned) are a great place to lvl characters, espcially if you have a team of 2 or 3.... well great if you don't mind the smell and the knowledge that your shoes will forever be ruined that is

That really depends on how you look at it, though. Yes, you access the Abandoned Sewers fromt he middle of the regular sewers, but they are supposed to be beneath the regular sewers.
