| #2k4ctf players are WAY too good for me! |
|

So I started playing UT a month before 04 came out. I love the game, in fact, it is the ONLY computer game I have liked and play. I found out about pubs a few weeks ago and started to play in a couple of matches...
Well, I got to say, I got my ASS handed to me on a gold, not silver, but a gold plate! I cant beleive the humiliation i felt after the games were over! I really didnt care about my score as much as I did of my team effort. Every game I've played in, my teams lost! The last one I played in, we lost so bad they only played 1 map.
"Sorry bout that guys"
You guys are scoring in the 150+ point range, and I'm working my ass off to get over 50 points. So with that said, after the last one, I haven't gone back to 2k4ctf or tried to play in a pug because of this!
You guys are all GOOD AS HELL! Props out to all of you on the aim and gameplay you peeps posses.
I might stop back in to make a team lose a match, of course I dont do that on purpose, so keep fraggin and I'm gonna keep practicing.
peace!

To improve your skill level, just play in pubs and perhaps try to get your hands on some good demorecs (I'm trying to get CTF people to upload them to gameamp more), watching demos can really help you play smarter just by seeing what decisions others make in situations.
If you're in a clan (I forget), just try to scrim as much as you can, even if it's like 3v3 or something intraclan; if you're not, perhaps try to join the ranks of a team that doesn't mind helping train a new recruit.
Pubs will help you develop basic skills like movement and fragging, but once you get those down you'll still have to play at a higher level to become a SMART ctf player.
The key thing is to not give up if you get frustrated. There's a few articles on here about stuff like that, and it's all good advice.

concrete, yeah dood! rgr that. I was actually reading over those yesterday. Some really interesting information there! I've been playing with «iG» for about 8 months now. We're mainly insta, but with the addition of a few really good reg wep players, we've been practicing a lot! LOL, I just found out what hitscan meant the other day. damn, now thinking about, UT has a lot more info to remember while in game than any other game i've played.
anyways, thanks for the info, i'm gonna keep reading those notes later on, and if you guys got some demos up of some well played teamwork and individual movements, im all for checking those out! on a side note, i spec players a LOT! sometimes i'll spec for over an hour just watching how ppl manuever and shit! some fools do some CRAZY shit!
and dc, yeah, i remember you, great player! i didnt talk much cuz i was pissed. shit, i dont think i was alive long enough to get halfway across the base, that and im still not use to using the trans as my main method od movement. which is why i wasn't in the middle protecting the center, my bad.
I've been working on my dodging so much lately, I was just dodging and dbl dodging across the map, not really thinking about my trans. reason for that, my dodging to the left SUCKS ASS! speaking of which, whats your dbl dodge sensitivity at? i think i have mine set at .40. Anything lower and i cant hit the damn buttons fast enough, or im hittin it to fast and it's not reconizing.
anyways, im at phucking work, so i gotta get some shit done. thanks for the tips dood!

Well definitely scrim, and play in pubs to work on fundamentals like working with the trans, and getting used to weapons and powerups. Just keep in mind that, overall, people play a little different in pubs (most tend to just sit on D and whore the shock). Certainly pubs can be good for developing your basic CTF skills though.
And my dodge sens is set way too high... I sometimes dodge when I don't even mean to... I think I just set it high one time to test it out, and never got around to lowering it again.

IRC man IRC.
Get to know your community. There are really two channels that contain the most active (and the most skilled) people in this community (though there are some noobs in both as well).
#2k4tdm
TDM stuff, and 1v1. Players range from the best in america, to new guys that don't compete. TDM/1v1 is the best gametype, with cash events, and all sorts of fun stuff to play in. This channel will give you the scoop on everything, and you can get advice, or play a pug.
#2k4ctf
CTF stuff. While CTF isn't at the same level as TDM for top events, there are some good players. This channel should have anybody that matters in it, and you can play pugs, blah blah.
Both channels will give you live broadcasts of games, and the staff here hold admin slots in both channels.
BTW both are on enterthegame.com
My PC
CPU P4EE Gallitan core socket 478 @ 4.2ghz, Abit IC7-G Max 3, 2 gb PC4000 corsair xms, PC Power and cooling 510 psu, Albatron 6800gt @ ultra, Creative Audigy 2 ZS, Cooler master wave master case, Switech Liquid Cooling, Dual NEC 22 inch CRT, Klipch Pro Media 5.1, Senn HD280 pro, MS 3.0, Steel S&S, logitech elite.
