Re: Expert Salvage and normal kit

experts i usually use for salvaging runes and weapons with grips, hilts, strings, ect. expert salvage kit has a larger % change of getting the items from them. and for the 400gold. 1 bow string would usually sell for 1000 so its definatly worth it. not sure about regular items tho. also i use them on anything that says "highly salvageable"

Re: Expert Salvage and normal kit

I also have a question.. mainly because I just started this game a few days ago...

anyhoo... my questions is...when I get item such as Axe Fiend Armor / half eaten mass / Shaman Garb

Is there any other use than using salvage kit to get raw material?

Re: Expert Salvage and normal kit

Expert Salvage kit has a higher chance of getting rare crafting materials out of a salvagable item and can also do all the above that Swamp Fox mentioned.

There is no other use for the armors that monsters drop other than to salvage them. They can also come with runes in them so when you see an armor with a blue, purple, or yellow name, identify the armor and you will be able to unlock that rune. Then you can extract the rune using an expert salvage kit then apply it to your armor if it is a rune of your primary class.

Hope I answered all your questions and then some.

I think you could also sell them (the salvageable items) if you really wanted to. Almost everything in the game has some value if you sell it to an NPC. You'd be better off salvaging the items in most cases, however.

Re: Expert Salvage and normal kit

salvaging all items is much to expencive for me. I always salvage Purple/Yellow armor. Make sure you indentivy every blue item with a indentivication kit, Sometimes it says that you can harvest an item out of it. when it says that you schould use a expert salvaging kit. Also on highly salvageable items, its handy to use a expert kit. You will never know what youll find in such an item. for instance i had a bolt of raw silk from a blue stalker armor that was highly salvagable. Quite good finds.

Dont was your money on salvaging everything you get. exspecialy with an expert salv. kit

Re: Expert Salvage and normal kit

Normal Salvage kits usually just get one or two common crafting materials out of an item.
An Expert Salvage Kit, when used on a highly salvageable item or items that have runes or weapon components in them has a chance to get the rune or weapon component. For highly salvagable items, I find that it either gets me a whole bunch of common crafting items (like 10 or 12), or it gets me a rare crafting item.
Note that you're probably going to waste money doing it, but you can salvage pretty much anything. Sometimes, if you need a particular crafting item, you can get it by salvaging plain weapons or other items that you would normally just sell or trade to a collector.

Re: Expert Salvage and normal kit

Well I've found just experimenting with salvage kits that I can get rare items out of normal (non-coloured) items - usually weapons using an Expert Salvage Kit.
Usually when I pick up a Hammer or Sword (maybe over a certain level) I can get several Steel Ingots, which I can sell for a lot if I time it right...

Also you learn what "gets" what out of what lol... One of the main ones that sticks in my head (Esp. considering I am doing pre-searing with one of my chars atm) is Tribal Blades - They Salvage as Granite Slabs usually... so you learn as you go along... I salvage more steel out of hammers that swords though :)
