Forgive me if this is in the wrong section but I saw this as the best place to post this question.
Okay, I have just found out about the 14 day free trial of CoH and I have my master account created and everything but lo and behold they want your CC #. I'm a bit tight on money this month and was wondering, if I entered my card # and then cancelled soon afterwards, would it let me play out the 14 free days and then close my account without charging my card?
Please don't think me greedy because if this game does live up to my expectations they'll probably get my 15 dollars. Thanks for your time :).

I never tried the free trial, but I have seen a few others post concerning the credit card issue. I do believe that entering your card information will simply make billing easier if you decide to keep your subscription with NC Soft. Otherwise, you shouldn't be charged if you cancel before your trial is complete. If you're still unsure, feel free to give the technical support department a call. I'm confident that the number is somewhere on your game's box or on the official site - CoH Official Site. Also, welcome to the site and our beloved gaming world. We'll see you out there.

yes Mal is right, you won't be charged on your credit card as long as you cancel the subscription b/f your free trial runs out

Ah, thanks for the speedy response, great, If I have time then I should be in game today. Thats the thing though , with the trial, they give you the game to download, so I had no box for reference.

First off, welcome to the site, Iyoku!
Secondly, Jeni and Mal are right. Mainly the Credit Card thing is a verification of ID as well as making paying for the game easier. Once you cancel the subscription, you won't be charged and you can start paying as you go with gamecards or reactivating the account in the future.
Everyone here is extremely helpful, so don't hesitate to ask questions! The official forums on the official City of Heroes can be a little scary sometimes, so feel free to ask away on here. Generally someone here will be an expert in one heroic field or another. :)

Many thanks for the warm welcome :). Yeah I've been skimming through the site and it's packed with info it looks like.
I guess one more question before I get back to reading. What is the best role playing server in your opinion? I feel RP servers tend to have an easy going atmosphere.

last i heard Victory is the unoffical rping server... but you can find rpers on every one... my fav server is Triumph, and there are a lot of people on this site that play there... but you can always create a few alts in the beginning to find which server you like the most

Virtue is classically the role playing server of choice.
Triumph and Victory are extremely friendly servers. Most of the staff members from here play on Triumph, but a lot of regulars also have characters on Victory, myself included.

There's people representing from all the servers basically. :) Triumph is just kinda the "home" server that we use for most of our stuff, events and the like. Like the Fruits and Veggies supergroups and so forth.
