So while I offend everybody here (I am good at that)… what is so good about this game?
This is not meant to be offensive in anyway, shape, or form… however I just don’t get what is so fun about the game.
Granted I haven’t played the whole game through, and I don’t know much about it… but I still just don’t get it.
That being said if any of you lovely people care to enlighten me, I might give it a try competitively.
So start talking bishes.

Competitively, the game holds plenty of potential. It has wonderful physics and speed etc. for a competitive 1v1 game, but suffers from poor map design. Although a few of the maps are very playable, and a couple are actually quite adequate, no maps really shine through like you'd hope (bar dm_sacred, in my opinion.)
While the devs are obviously putting in a lot of effort into fixing where the game has shortcomings, (3 patches since release is quite nice to see from any developer), their lack of experience seems to be what holds the game from becoming what it really could.
With more mod support/sdk that don't have to be purchased with the expansion, the community might be able to take matters into its own hands and fix things, if it hasn't dissipated by the time these are available to public.

Well, i'm an old quakerboy and i thought i'd give this new shooter a try. The incredible speed and intensity makes it almost as good as old Quake 1. What makes it better is the great graphics and kind of smooth movement engine. I really like it and i will give it a good try!

Its just mindless killing intermingled with some strong level design. I had a blast just unloading with every weapon imaginable.
The bosses were a nice change of pace considering you have to come up with different tactics to get the job done.
Every once in a while you can take a look around to appreciate the level design and the atmosphere that the designers through you into.

It seems like one of those games you can just let your frustrations out. After a long hard day of work, just kill... lots of things. Although UT2k4 is more of my bag, in terms of gameplay. But I love the art of Painkiller.

why so good,
well for me the stake gun. I will never ever ever ever get bored with the stake gun, it's way too much fun,
my only wish for painkiller patch is to adapt a crouch button so i can crouch and send the enemy flying upwards with a stake in themm.... stake gun rox.
best FPS weapon of all time..

PK is what all quakers need after Quake3.
What i mean ~ Quke4 MP is a piece of shit, like doom3 MP, it is very slow, doom3 engine based, and for those who adore games like Quake1, painkiller is the best game, realy not Quake4 or UT2004. Besides it's best physics and graphics, the geme holds so much potencial - that is truth, it is so fuking fast and gore! UT2004 is another style game.
The only problem that PK is buggy, but it deservs it's place in CPL for sure.
PK is the best game for duels created sofar, while lets say AvP2 could be the best for TDM, Quke3_TEAM_ARENA could be the best for CTF, and UT2004 could be the best for DM.
