Lazy Heroes

A buddy of mine was watching me and my girlfriend play and saw her get attacked by Valkyrie and Positron. He then made a very good point, "You'd think heroes would help someone getting their asses handed to them."

This brought up a discussion that heroes like trainer and TF heroes could act like Police Drones, wiping out guys in single shots. That would be pretty cool I think, adding a bit of heroism to them.

I always liked, like in the Eden trial, you can free the heroes, and they'll fight with you... now only in that one room, but they'll fight with you.

Then there is Faathim the Kind, in the 3rd (I think) Shadow SHard TF... once you free him he'll fight with you... big guy that Faathim, he's a bubbler. :)

You'd think at least those security chiefs in body armor would use those shotguns once in a while. Why are Paragon's cops so woosie?

Re: Lazy Heroes

I agree, it would be a good idea, but maybe as trainers they are making sure you are getting proper training, or that they dont want to be accused of being KILL STEALERS lol. Anyway it would make sense. As far as the police I think they do make them a bit too whimpy, wouldnt want them to be ablt to take our jobs and take on nemesis and such but maybe let them fight (like the council and 5th did) in zones like AP and galaxy

Wow, never got high enough to do those missions. That sounds pretty cool. Hope the AI is better for NPC teammates then other games I've played, heh.

Kill stealers, heh. The look on Brawlers would be priceless.

Generic Hero: \"Dude, that was my Hellion!\"
Back Alley Brawler: \"I was saving you!\"

Unfortunately, that would mean less exp since damage dealt blah-blah-blah...get KSed by a cop...that would be embarassing...

Re: Lazy Heroes

True about being SK'd by a cop, but kind of neat to have them helping though. Also if they limited the number of them it would keep that down. Also saving someone with HP's that could actually get "defeated" if you dont save them in time, maybe something like victims start being affected by villains damage after you attack villains, kind of like when you do cape mish and when you enter the room and they start destroying the case. So it matters how you fight etc to save them, the only thing more pathetic than a purse snatcher pulling on a purse for 10 minutes is victims standing 100yds from the baddies waiting to be rescued lol.

Re: Lazy Heroes

While it is nice to have the freed heroes fight along side you in the Eden trial...those dudes are insane and will attack anything that moves, meaning drawing as much aggro straight to you and your group as possible. The Eden trial we did was almost a washout with the freed heroes, they would attack one group and then turn to attack the next closest group and leave the first one coming right at us...we weren't ready for that, thank heavens for blues and greens, and our poor healer...she was almost burned out by the time it was over.

One word of warning about the Eden trial...BERRIES! YOU MUST HAVE BERRIES! It would've been nice to remember that when we did it the first time. The Titan stomps for 1500 hp of damage, even in granite armor, Gibraltar went down in one hit.

I think what he is talking about are the ambrosias, the strange Inspirations you get for killing Greater Devoured in the Eden Trial. They are supposed to quell the damage that Titan deals, making it possible to take multiple hits from him.

Yeah I'm sure that's it because when I did it our leader made sure everyone had at least 3 for the final battle.

As far as being afraid to cross the zone. When I started my first scrapper decided to see where Green Line went and crossed Steel and discovered IP, then discovered The Family and subsequently discovered the hospital.

Re: Lazy Heroes

yep, she's talking about ambrosia... it's on a pink background... and they look kinda like grapes... (it's been a while since I did it so correct me if I'm wrong) I STILL got stomped by the Titan... even with amrosia. :)

I think it'd be cool if they did like they did for Guild Wars.... On late at night, can't find a healer... for a large fee... you can hire one. It'd be like a SK 1 lvl below you... and then would follow you around. I know this would discourage some people from teaming, but there are times... like timed missions or TF's where you just can't find anyone that will come along, and you need a hand. Just hire a hero. :)

OMG! I just checked this thread after a couple of days away...Guys, I'm sorry! I am talking about Ambrosia, my SG, Global Heroics, has done this TF so many times, they refer to them as berries, and got me doing it as well.

So sorry for the misunderstanding

That would be pretty cool cuz then Hero Corps. would have an actual purpose in the game aside from giving you missions. I don't think that would discourage teaming, at least for large scale stuff like taking on AVs or big-league missions.

Especially if they make it expensive enough and limit it to one hirling per member on the team (total of 4), not to mention, as discussed above, NPC AI isn't the brightest, would keep people from doing this too much.

I like the idea, but I also enjoy teaming too. Having an AI character would suck a lot of personality from teaming making it a little more boring.

Easily fixed: let the Heroes have Stun attacks, or non-damaging Holds, or wicked Knockback. They should at least make an effort!

yeah I had to read that twice he meant near when he used by.

As far as the KS'ing NPC's I was being sarcastic. But stuns wouldnt be bad, kinda like you are fighting and they sneak in a backhand.

And I actually want to be a writer...better invest in a good spell checker...

Re: Lazy Heroes

Each of those major heroes really ought to use an attack appropriate to the characters, rather than all using a stun gun. For example, Synapse and Sister Psyche would mez them, while Manticore would shoot one with a stun arrow and Back Alley Brawler would @$@%slap them.

Also, who really cares if they get KS'ed by an NPC? Would it really be any worse than getting KS'ed by a Police Drone? I, for one, would love to see an old lady shin-kick a purse-snatcher before she runs away, even if she does get one of my XP!
