Re: hunters choice

My hunter has been accused of being a walking arms depot. I carry, and probably shouldn't, a 1H and 2H Axe, 1H Sword and a dagger. I guess I do this so I can keep my H2H skills all maxed. This is pretty hard to do, except with the dagger, which I always carry in the off-hand. I've tried dual wielding w/o the dagger but it seems that DPS just goes down.

My criteria for the best damage dealing melee weapons is as follows: get a better gun or bow.

As I approach 40, I'm finding that I have to intentionally get into melee combat to keep my weapons skills up. Hunters do a LOT more damage with their ranged weapons. I'm usually well over 100 DPS with my gun. I'm hovering in the 60-70 DPS with melee weapons. This may or may not suck in either case. I don't really know. I crit with arcane shot in the 290's and occasionally the 300's. I just haven't been able to put that much DPS out with melee.

I do actually tend to use my melee weapons as agility buffers. Two weapons with stat buffs on them is better than one, right? This is the key reason I dual-wield. For damage, it seems my 2H axe is king, but god it's slow.

If I had it to do over, I'd probably just stick to the 1H axe and dagger combo and stick with whatever weapon drops I get. It would have saved me cash early on, before I realized that I should be SELLING on the AH and not buying. Lessons learned...

Also, if you concentrate on one style/type of melee fighting, you won't find yourself tempted to use/buy others. Sell 'em. Start saving for your mount, now! heheheh

Hope this helped.
