All games have faults, even Guildwars

as the title says, all games have faults. I do not mean the bugs that come with every game, but stupid things, things that hopefully will get fixed in due time.

What I am going at now is a lame quest to get footman who give a **** back to daddy drilsergeant. first why does the idiot get into the front line every time while the party is moving away. second why does suddenly a dozen foes spawn, right on the spot where footman who give a **** stands. why does no-one resurrect the footman after he dies for the ziljoenst time right in front of the gate.

I know a/i but still.
Also this is not a rant. not yet.

so enlighten us with your special moments after wich a walk in the park was the best thing to do. (How nice to have such problems, not?)

I'm not sure how that post wasn't supposed to be a rant....

As for moments in Guild Wars where I just wanted to tear my hair out (which, I think, is what you asked about) I think trying to do skill capture with henchmen in a mission is right up there. We died too many times because we didn't really want to clear the whole map to get to a single mob with the skill, but the brilliant henchmen stood in the aggro range of something else and wiped out the party. It wasn't a problem with Guild Wars so much as the end of a long night and a good time to stop.

That is partly the same point I tried to make. In yours the henchman just wanderd off and got caught by other foe's thus activating the whole map. i got basicly the same with the semi-rant above when the target to rescue did un-intelligent things.

perhaps a controlsystem like the one in NWN can solve some problems. (I still cannot believe that I typed this) simple things like Run! would be nice. I eagerly await the expands although I have not finished the game.

I know that some will say that going with only henchman is not the way it was meant. I know, and i play with others, but sometimes you just want to do a quest slowly, while talking with others, or watching a sporting event during playing. A lot of people take the hencman and that is why their A/I should not be neglegted

I have to agree. I have found many of times that I could not complete a quest with a group of people so I just grab some henchies and, lo and behold, breezed right through the quest with no one dieing. Just goes to show you that even AI is smarter than most of the people playing games these days.

I for one am thankful for the Henchies with out them I would have stopped playing the game a long time ago.. I play with my 2 roomates and we just grab some henchies and go with out them Im afraid we would have left this game.. so very hard to find people that listen and will let one person lead them..

Re: All games have faults, even Guildwars

i got in a party the other day, as fouth and only offensive spellcaster. they did not work as a team. they let the line break so that all the melee atacked me. (ele/nec with high energy) two of them where monks combo's and but could not raise anyone. They wandered all over the place running after the leader who was of the map.

but is that behaviour a fault in the game or just enthousiasm of the other players.

as for A/I. i can imagine that it is very hard to program. so far it is not that bad, but a bit more direct control is a challenge for a coming expansian. like the simpel orders in NWN(I still want to choke Linu)

As for the party's, somewhere on this forum is an example of how to organize a succesful party.

the second thing that can be considered is the predictable respawning of enemy's. example: when entering old ascalon, just after searing devourers spawn. a few time i walk by that spot and always the same respawning.
