I have the same issue. I thought it might have been daemon tools causing the problem, but I've disabled it's service and uninstalled it. It's not even attenpting to read from the DVD.

Tried it Stuccoguy, Still getting the same old thing. E.A. Games have sure made a mess of this release. Im thinking of taking my copy back to the shop and telling them to "ram it".

Re: Please insure Battlefield 2 install disk is in the drive ???

I got it working. I made a image of BF2 using Alcohol120% then mounted the image with Deamon Tools with all emulation turned on. It worked, and I don't even need the DVD in the drive.

Re: Please insure Battlefield 2 install disk is in the drive ???

As to the origanl poster, the istalled .exe bounces a querry off the the disk to verify its authenticity, emulation software attempts to block that, game protections try to navigate those, and somtimes disks may not load proper nor detect proper, disable any clone drive. Your problem sounds most like a downloaded game though, every time you will get the message you descibe under that condition.(this is somthing your familiar with) If I am horibly wrong on the last inferense, then sorry. As to the poster at the end, who attests to uninstalling sp2, up to your better judgement.(sp2 shouldnt affect it, but failing debuging your system, recheck your regestry for errors, files for malware, running at least a virus scan, rechecking your drivers, coruption in your op, your hardware a once through, and the software in particular your having trouble with, then basically sp2 is not causing the issue, basically, lol)

Re: Please insure Battlefield 2 install disk is in the drive ???

Hi My name is Allen and I have a problem...

I thought I would impart some of my experiece of the installation of Battlefield 2.

Day 1: I went and bought the game and came home and tried to install it but recieved an error and tried every avenue and thought that I could conceive as far as troubleshooting on installing a game. Well little did I know it was a problem with windows. (the error I got was couldnt select battlefield 2 after I put in the cdkey code.) The reason why I had a problem with windows was due to windows update freezing up during download/install or whatever and had to reboot.

Im getting a bit ahead of the story here but lets back up before I figured out the problem. I had done troubleshooting and talking to a EA tech support which I waited an hour for them to get to me. Obviously they like to take long lunches or just have a buttload of calls for this game alone. His final statement and reply to fixing my problem was: "Take it back and exchange it." Well I go and do so and come back and lo and behold I got the same error. Then I tried it on another computer which installed JUST fine. So I thought it was the CDROM drive and swapped it out and that didnt fix the problem still.....by this point I was frustrated and ready to toss it out the window. So I did one final test...tried another game and I had the same error...and thats when I figured out it had to do with windows.

Reformatted and reinstalled and I was FINALLY able to install...YAY...dont get excited for me just yet. I got my headphones on and was getting ready to click that Battlefield 2 icon, and got the Battlefield logo then boom got that error saying "Please insure Battlefield 2 install disk is in the drive". So I double checked and laughed because I had the disc 2 in the drive which would have made sense to use to play the game, instead of the installer disc. So I pop out the disc 2 and pop in the disc 1 cd and once again Im getting ready to play. Excitement builds up as I see that Battlefield 2 logo....the joy was snatched away from me again.

Please insure Battlefield 2 install disk is in the drive

So...this is where I am in my problem. Sorry for the long winded experience of installing this hellspawn of a game that is out to torment me and millions of other who will huddle in a corner and cry why...WHY!?!!

This is the support group for BF2 Anon right?

Re: Please insure Battlefield 2 install disk is in the drive ???

I've had this one a couple of times.

Event viewer reporting a CDROM error...

I found that if I boot my PC with the BF2 disk in - I get the error (I put this down to the boot sequence reading the drive and something in the EA coding falling over when accessed).

Now I boot first - then put the BF2 disk in - it seems to take slighlty longer than normal for the drive to read... but it works! :-)

Hope this helps.

Longpot

Re: Please insure Battlefield 2 install disk is in the drive ???

I found that I had to insert disk number one and then click the start BF2 button from there.

Disc two does nothing accept prompt you to put in disc two.

It took me a while to figure that out.

I spent a good hour trying to find the install code. It says it is on the back of the white box in the lower left corner. Mine came in a black box. I returned it to the store and while a beautiful sales women was helping me I found it on the back of the booklet in the middle at the top.
