Since I know not everybody involves themselves in proU and it’s daily dose of bullshit, I though I should bring this up here.
As many of you may remember MLUT has been a major hit in UT99, yet MLUT failed horribly in 2k4.
Some people have tossed around the idea of running the same concept (draft league) for TDM in 2k4. The feed back has been mixed.
Let me be blunt and open about this. This event CAN be done, and I’m fairly sure even with our minimal staff we can kick it off fairly well and lay a stable structure. I have also been approached by people willing to code us up an area to run this from. We are close to having the staffing we need to pull this off, and there are a couple people I would want to grab on IRC to back us.
The issue is if there is enough community “give a flying fuck” that we should move forward?
Moving right along…
Time frame: Post GGL playoffs. This will enable the current players in GGL to have time to transition, it will also give me enough time to get ironman into playoffs, and others to code up the sign up site.
Team size: I want 16, and I refuse to work with more than 24. Having less teams will let us insure this finishes. It also reduces the number of captains needed so we can pick people dedicated and pull this off.
Rules: GGL/OLB style. For those not familiar, it’s CPL map list with spawn nades, and the OLB overtime tweak. Map list issues, and what I am willing to change. Anything that nets better fps (ie deck17 fps) as for added maps, campgrounds, that’s the only one I will add, and I’m against it at this point. But make your case.
Format: Straight up brackets. If it goes well I can cook up another one but with round robin starts.
Side notes-
Some more people to help us. Ideally these shouldn’t be current community leaders, but people with a better link to most UT players. I’d want to get MTX, and LOB on board, and milk them for help.

If you're talking about something where everyone's just picked by a few captains, I am beyond not interested. There's no way I would participate in it unless there was NOTHING ELSE left for the community.
It's not enough to succeed, others must fail.

There would have to be a reasonable player rating system to ensure that no team gets completely stacked. And I'm not sure how to go about introducing such a system (except a self-rating system which would most likely be entirely honor-based).
But I was a big fan of MLUT and would like to see something "similar" come to the 2k4 community (successfully).
Hopefully this works out :)

ya i am not sure what you mean, are captains going to be picked and then the captains will pick from a group of people that are interested??? sounds cool to me, let me know whats going down.

lol this got dragged back up.
Due to MML this crashed because of people being at places they couldn't play from. We will do one later when nothing conflicts.
