Virtual memory

Ok so I have alot of Lag already as it is, I can deal with that but when I'm playing and my computer screen resorts back to the desktop and i have to restart due to low virtual memory I have a problem. I have died a few times because of it, which brings me to my suggestion If your being attacked you should automatically attack, and if you were attacking you should continue to attack if your comp goes down. Anyway anyone know about virtual memory so I can get this fixed. I have a 40gb hard drive 256 mem with a amd 1.8g or so processor and a new mother board to accomidate. The graphics card came with the mother board already installed. thanks in advance if ya do know

Re: Virtual memory

On this topic of virtual memory I have found that anything less than 512mb of DDR ram seems to stick up and cause frequent system crashes. IMO i would suggest up grading your memory to aliveate these problems.

Re: Virtual memory

As Belzibub suggested above upgrading you ram really can make all the difference in the world. However most people cant afford the extra money to do this. With the Virtual memory Windows uses your hard drive disk as memory, thigs like your paging file and master table file reside here. As far as I know this only applies to WinXP.

To increse the amount of virtual memory Windows can allocate on your hard drive:

- Right click the My Computer icon on your desktop and select Properties.

- In the tabbed window that opens select the Advancedtab.

- Then where it says Performance select settings.

- At the top there will be two tabs, select Advanced.

- Where it says Virtual Memory near the bottom select Change.

- Select the Custom Size option, and in the Initial Size box type 2048. In the Maximum Size box type 2048.

- Select the Set button and click OK. Reboot and your done.
