Ok, I see posts and strategys on how to defeat "yourself" in order to ascend. (Thanks for the tips..I will be needing them :) ) However, I am curious as to what exactly ascension is. Does it just allow you access to more areas, or what? From what I hear Level 20 is the highest you can gain level wise. So, just curious over all what ascension is and the benefits of it.

I think they classify the ability to play in the hall of heroes with your RP character the reward, also you get to continue the story, I think it's mainly just a story thing.

Ascension marks the beginning of a new epoch in the storyline of Guild Wars. After you Ascend your are allowed new missions and areas, and being able to participate in the events held at the Hall of Heroes. As well as moving you farther in-game, its also a symbol of your accomplishments.

also, when you ascended you were automatically leveled to 20. but since alot of people were level 20 when they ascended they nerfed to to 50,000 exp. so since all the people who rushed chars to get ascended dont auto 20, they just pay for a run through larnors and skip most of the game with their alts. i saw a lvl 2 monk/mesmer in droknars, wierd huh?
