| The chat. Keep it the way it is or redesign? |
|
|
|
A lot of us have complained about the chat. Most over the annoying trading in the chat or the optimists that ask for money. Some state that the districts 1/3 are for trading and not partyforming. so what is the general view. keep it with all the problems or split partyforming and trading into separate districts. (and so sending traders to the bigger towns)
I like to read the chat and react on a question or try to form a good party. The trading is a hinder for me.
(please react, stay polite and type whole words to keep it readable for non english like me and hundreds other)

Better organization is a must in all games, especially guild wars, unfortunatly the way districts(and people) work prevents for a more efficient economy. I would love to see seperate disricts for just trading, however I've noticed that districts are created depending on the amound of people are in a town(More people = more districts) so people who say that districts 1-3 are for trading, might have problems when there is only 1 district per-said town/outpost(something that the folks at ncsoft should work on). Also people seem to forget there is a specific channel for tradeing.

i dont think making trading districts apart is a solution. the main problem is when there were casino's and alot of traders in dis 1 of lions arch. i couldn't read what was being said since it was moving so fast. i would only be able to make out words like "sword, bow, wts, wtb, casino, ect. not prices, names or anything useful"
Imho they need to do what they did in EQ. and make a certain place for trading. basically you become a merchant. and stand in rows. and anyone can do a /___ command and get a window that lets you search for specific items. this way. traders could go afk while selling and there wouldn't be much spam. and you could always do a PC without trader raising prices.

I agree with Swampy. The best way to do it would be to make a seperate town just for trading there is no zone out there is no grouping just a place were people can go and sell/buy...
Granted not everyone is going to go there but enough will to keep all chat down to talking instead of bidding..

some people want their trading post to stand out and also hit people who have trade off, so they use normal chat. it has a drastic efect. eample:
wts fiery dragon sword for 1mil
wtb a storm bow with max damage 23k
WTS GOLD ARMORS FOR 5K!!!!!
wtb crystalline sword 78k
wts best staff in game with +55 health, have 5, 70-90k!
if i did this correct the gold armors for 5k should have alraedy been read before you read that i was going to post an example =P. o well

aye we can unclick the box but I like to help people and communicate.. as it is right now I have all and trade chat turned off.. Granted if they let us customize our chat windows like make more and filter this to that one and that to this one..... I would be just fine..

they should develope a filter and you could put certain words in it. like WTS, WTB, ect. and then whenever it saw someone speak with those words the message would be delete from your scren, or blocked out. that would prevent people from spamming local chat

what the creators did not understand, or just left out to save time and or budjet, is the fun of selling your goods to a mercant and looking to his or her inventory.
This is my first online game. so how it work in the mmorpg is unknown to me but I played a lot of RPG (and the would be hack and slash see we have dialog so we are a RPG) like the classics BG and NWN and it was always fun to look at the inventory for the first time. The stories about the weapons, in bg mainly, were great. (I still play BG)
The chat offer potentially great things if trading is done in an special town like our fellow gamers suggest. Like a real marktet with all the sounds and other ambiance like thieves.
with great anticipation we await the coming big expand in wich we hopefully see te answer to our problems big or small, so that we can make up new ones.

This is one of the more annoying aspects of GW imho ,
i do indeed untick the trade chat 90% of the time apart from when im selling/ searching for items.
But it does nt really matter because a very large portion of the players trade chat in the local chat box.
And then you get the really annoying people who spam thier offers over and over like swampy said the text moves so fast.
I also believe like mentioned above that there should "Trading Posts" specificly intended just for trade.
these "trading Posts could be located directly next to a major town or location.
I dont know if this would stop the trade chat in normal chat talk tho i think that would be very hard to filter out
people would stop using WTB / WTS and say "Want a sword ? whisper me " be hard to filter that .

u could just filter
sword/s
axe/s
hammer/s
staff
staves
staffs (for those people who cant spell staves)
rune/s
gold
WTS
WTB
money
buy
sale
sell
WTT
trade
weapon
give
#k
##k
###k
without saying any of these it would be hard to buy/sell/trade if u put them all on the filter, and if u were looking for a certain item/weapon take that one off so u could get all messages saying Bow,Sell, WTS. so then u could see all the bow messages instead of turning it off completly
