You know. This is one thing that I hate the most - constant people scamming for "free rides" and such. So I think this should definitely be stickied. Though it is easy for someone to just create another character, they have to go through a lot to get back to where they were so I don't think they change their characters too often so my proposal is to do this: post the names of players that have scammed you or that scammed someone else that you know.
Here is my alleged scammer:
I Killed A Korean
His scam: Offering to pay to be run somewhere.

Scammers
Arch Adw: collected money for a forge run, then logged out
Tachu Rice: collected 5k from 2 people in droknars and attempted to run to granite, but died and then after res wouldn't give moeny back (claimed he said he had to go, but had plenty of time) then logged)

there are alot more scams then just running people places. such as the now banned casinos.
also i have already beat the game (the so called way its supposed to be played). if they didn't want people to do runs they would either close all the zones people run through, or take away sprint/balance stance/ect.

I dont mean to be rude, but still, why would a lvl 2 Necro want to have someone run them to a town where everyones lvl 15?? whats the point?
you still have to do quests and kill monsters and a lvl 2 will have a better chance at dying than getting exp from high level monsters..
i just think it's lame and a cheap way to level up, if they can level up that is.

Most people do it to get to Droknar's Forge to get best armor at beginning. Then others do it just so they can do it.
We even ran guildmates Temple of Ages for all the Underworld quest though the only thing they paid was part of the entrance fee to Underworld.

yes, its a very cheap way to level up, my lvl 10 ranger can kill mountain trolls solo, thats 280 exp, and when i use berserker scroll thats 250% so that would make it around 700 exp per kill.

Still you know, what's the point. It's not like you need to finish the game in x amount of time.
what's the point of having the latest and greatest armor on a level 2 toon? makes no sense to me.
I prefer to just play the game. It brings me no pride to have the latest armor or to kill monsters in one shot.Thats what real life achievements are for.
I mean it's just a game, have fun.

one of the reasons (which they just nerfed) was that you could get a lvl 10 with best armor and farm faction which was what my lvl 10 with 99% exp was doing, but now that you gain exp.....it sucks lol. well i guess my ranger will be lvling in the arena =/

Keil Jaden: was offering to run people to droknars(paying 1.5k b4 and 1.5k after).he would take the 1.5 before he even took them then he would claim server problems.
I dont see it as scamming really because if your dumb enough to give money before hand then you dumb enough to get scammed.

She scammed 7 people (including myself) to collect 1k from us all for a FOW run. Next thing you know she's gone. So I added her to my friends list and wrote to support to see if they would do anything about it. This is what they wrote back:

Occasionally a player will go back on an agreement or act in a less-than-honest manner. Unfortunately, such acts are matters over which we have no control and about which we cannot take corrective measures. If a player does not live up to his or her end of an agreement we are unable to force that player to do so. However, if we find that this player has violated the Terms of Service or Rules of Conduct (http://www.guildwars.com/legal/rules-of-conduct.html) we will take the necessary and appropriate actions against that player. If account actions are required; disclosure of this information will only be conveyed to the offending party; we are not at liberty to discuss account related issues with anyone but the account holder due to our privacy policy.

Don't take this personal in any way whatsoever, but I think this it's "f"d up that nothing can be done about it. Maybe we should all just pawn everyone in the Guild Wars world so that support will finally put this as a violation of rules. Looks like stealing money from other players aren't against the rules.

Well, I one time wanted to have the lowest credibility on guildwars.gameamp and went almost to -200 in credit, but in the end decided to change my ways and have positive credit instead.

I completely agree with the GW Support Team. It is YOUR responsibility as far as offering/requesting services from other players.
You gotta be either 1) too stupid, 2) too naive or 3) too desperate, to pay someone UPFRONT to "run" you to some high level area you have NO business going to in the first place!

you forgot number 4) too lazy
well anyway,the people that are paying the runners to go places arent the only ones being scammed. the runners are also scammed. people claim they wont pay until an outpost and then the runner gets them there and they leave.
also as for my experiance. trying to move a level 10 ranger with 99% experiance so he could get new skills and be more competitive in ascalon arena.

3: yeah i might have been to desperate lol.
under the circumstances the only way i can get somewhere was to run and i couldn't do any missions or fight my way somewhere. i cant run myself since im a ranger/nec (not too good at running) and henchmen would kill something and make me level, so only option was to trust someone.

Ok, here's a tip for ya(or whoever likes to be run into higher level places to level up)...there are things called quests in each town AND they come in various levels of difficulty, specially Ascalon...go talk to people with a green exclamation over their head, accept the mission and go complete it. After you are done, you will get exp. This exp helps you level up. Voila!
This is called "gaming", or "playing the game".

since u didn't understand i was trying to stay level 10 and NOT level up, this way i could farm faction in pvp with a good character+armor+skills which would give me an advantage over some of the players (not all since some had spiders, and other people had done it just before me).

A tip to all the only time u should pay for a run is when you are desperate in elona reach even then you should try it MANY MANY times...
[Before you say i am a not hard working and i am noob i was in lv 20 groups as a lv 20 and tried for a week but never ever could win and eventually i paid someone who was a runner to HELP me not do it for me!]
Periods are soooooooo over rated...

What are you talking about? We were all lvl 20. By "run" I meant a normal run you make with whoever else to do mishes. I didn't mean a "run" to get from point A to point B. I NEVER pay anyone to make runs from point A to point B. FOW & UW runs work where you pay $125 each FIRST to get 1K. The only way around this is by going with your guild, but even then you have to collect $125 from each person to make it fair. If your guild isn't big enough or there aren't enough lvl 20s around, you have to get a group together yourself. So now, I make runs to FOW & UW. That way they pay me the $125 instead of me paying them since I don't trust anyone anymore.

i know more scammer i have a brother that is scammed yesterday by Major Kai.
hey say he can dubbel you money. he takes you outside of lions arch and say you must die.
hey revives you and run back to the lion's arch and he stops infront of the statu with the flags and ask you to drop you money you die (i dont know how) and he picks up your money

Im sorry I didnt realise that this thread was around, it isnt a great idea to name scammer's etc as we cant exactly prove they have infact scammed (it might be someone just out to get that particular person).

new scam, supposedly "dupes" your items, they have you go outside of somewhere, some random place to make you think that the place is bugged or w/e. put on your vamp weapon/ saccing skills. they use unyeilding aura on you, tell you to drop the item/ money that you want duped, they remove it and you die.
