A few tips for fighting your mirror when ascending at augury rock. Do not bring too many abilitys, about 3 or 4, know the abilitys that you use (not just random ones you find in your list), TRY to trick the computer. For instance, if your a necromancer. You could put blood renewal into your skill bar (which takes health away then slowly regens it back for more) Then once he used that you could vamp gaze him and possibly kill him. What I did personnaly, I am a mesmer so i put in stupid elite spells that didnt realy have any effect but took a while to channel so everytime he would try and cast it I would power spike him for 104 dmg then i would also cast backfire which would deal about 144 dmg. WHATEVER YOU DO THOUGH DO NOT BRING ANY DEGENERATION SPELLS!

Well E/N was hard as hell I didn't bring degen spells but I sure as hell abused Gale Searing heat and Lightning Orb and a few stopper skills and stopping skills :DDDDD took me a while to get this plan oh and of course bring blinding flash and go melee and you pretty much win just gale when you see her/him start casting a spell and if you see searing heat and of cours ebring air ateunement and aura of restoration and I did the bonus I beat her in about 30 secs with this ;D even though when the battle ended I had less than half my energy for use but IT WORKS WHEN DONE RIGHT :DDDDD ya I pwned it >:D ioh and Bring Lightning Javelin if you see it do Melee and Blinding Flash is recharging it worked for me now how does it work for YOU *remeber try not to ge hit by lightning spells because THEY PIERCE YOUR DEFENCE so use gale when you see a white aura ontop of her head*

This was extremely easy using W/MO. My Warrior was loaded with Axe skills (executioners axe, axe rake, axe twist, cyclone axe, dismember, and another), symbol of wrath and Warrior's endurance. Killed the doppleganger on first try. Basically hit warrior's endurance, symbol, and then started with axe skills. Still had 100 hp when done. Key to W/MO is to bring you mastery skills and do not bring HEALING SIGNET or any healing monk spells. If you do that, should be easy.

Also with ascending... I always hear how you ascend when you are level 20, or if you are below that, you are automatically moved to level 20.. etc. Well, where do you ascend? Do you have to make it to a certain city or fort in the game? Or is there a specific person you just talk to whenever you wish to ascend?

lol! i beat my mirror in 30 sec and got the bonus :D
whne i fight vs myself i was fire e/me (now im earth e/mo - earth so rocks :D).
it was very eas fight...i didnt change nothing in my skillz :) 4 of my skilz where masiv dmg 2 near foes so the mirror didnt use them cuz i was in some distance.
ho and he didnt use his bow cuz :O he just used my skilz :D
i just cast on him flare and fireballs and burn his energy with the memser skilz :O i end up the battle wiht 400 ho out of 500 :D

When I ascended with my mesmer, I just equipped backfire and stupid spells, like imaginesd burden. I cast backfire on him and 95% of his heath went down in like 10 seconds. Only after a laughed for like a half a minute did I realize that I had accidentally pressed F4 and had no weapons. The fight was easy, but that made it a close call.

Ascension takes place in the crystal desert, a part of the world after kryta. You have to complete 3 missions in no paticular order, then go to augury rock, the central outpost in the desert. You talk to a guy who takes you to the mesa, where you walk through to a circle that lights up when the three missions are complete. you step on the three stones, then the mountain breaks up and you go inside. You have to fight your \"doppleganger,\" which is an evil mirror image of you who uses your spells that you have equipped. Once you destroy him, you have ascended. It then takes you to the dragon's lair, which I'm not sure is part of ascension or not. The dragon's lair is an awesome mission, great for skill capping.
Well, That's how you ascend.

Hey never fret if you have not beaten this monstrosity yet. Call me a noob if you like but after 7-9 tries, I lost count i finally beat him. The funny thing was that i died but right before he killed me i shot him with Hunter's shot and it killed him. Somehow rezing me lol. I only used 2 skills for my R/E 19.
Firestorm and Hunter's Shot.
Just never give up.

First cast elemental attune B4 u go in...bring meteor shower,blinding flash,fire storm,lava font.After ur in..wait till he casts meteor shower and fire storm.After that blind him.It doesn't matter if he blinds u,because u can use spells.When he's blind,meteor shower,fire storm.Then go near him to cast lava font.

to answer one of the origianl things... you dont have to be level 20 to ascend, and there is no automatic adjustment, you still only have the attribute points of whatever level you enter with...
regarding a warrior ascension, it's easy, just wack him...
elementalist, is easy as well, meteor shower, firestorm, flare
cast metoer shower... (he will cast firestorm... and actually get it off first... ) your as soon as metoer shower is cast, move to the side out of his firestorm, cast firestorm while he is getting pummeled by meteors, use flare to finish him... 15 secs your done...
those are the 2 easiest i know of... never have ascended a monk, rangers can be tricky

If I remember correctly, I ascended my monk with healing breeze and retribution. Cast retribution at the beginning and healing breeze as needed. Don't attack him, just let him attack you and concentrate on keeping your hp above his.

Ive known of a trick for monkf or quite awhile. I myself have seen this work first hand. I have allso herad of others doing it. Take only healing breeze as your healing spell. The doppleganger dosent seem to use it ever. So you in turn can heal while he cannot. I also suggest taking no protection spells. As he tends to go nuts with them. Id take like balths aura symbol of wrath and healing breeze.

If you have ranger spirits its super easy. Just cast all the spirits before you cross over the third rock. Quickly start attacking and your mirror is dead within 15 secs. I like to bring in slow casting spells that you can cast before you enter the arena to fight him. While your mirror is casting away, you can start attacking before your mirror does. You will win.
By the way, my mirror kept hitting me with some random bow that hit me for 30 more than I could hit him. I didn't have any skills and had all my marksmanship points maxed out. What gives? Is our mirror inherently stronger?

yes. he will always be stronger than you.
also, you get 50,000 exp to beat him, and an additional 1,000 if you do so in 50 seconds.
eles are right with the posts above. meteor shower, fire storm, fire ball. boom dead
monk - healing breeze, retribution, and one other one that does 66% back to him...all in all, it will account for 99% damage dealt back. also, dont wear your 'beefiest' armor...the numbers go off of what hits you will take and the damage received by them. just keep healing breeze up and you should beat him under 50 seconds.

Try Divine Boon and Zealots Fire. Cast Zealots and then spam Boon over and over. Each time you cast boon you are healed and also damage the mirror because of zealots. You need to be close to him so since you have ele as secondary skill you may want to consider blinding him to nuetralize the melee attacks.
It has been a while since I did this but it worked. The mirror does not know how to use boon to heal itself. I was not an ele 2nd when I did it so the blinding idea is just a suggestion based on what other eles have posted here.

The first time i ascended it was with my Necro/Nuker. It took me four times to finally do it and when i did i died right after he did. XD I got the bonus and the mission even though i died cause i died after the double ganger did and i did it in the time frame. Stupid me took all my nuking skills and Deatly Swarm so he would strike me with a bunch of that stuff. I struck him but it was usually Deadly Swarm that killed me. Just take worthless skills that the double ganger is not going to really get any use out of. Like a necro should take alot of Minion skills cause the ganger will never be able to use them. Also take skills that sacrafice your own health in order for them to work cause he could possible kill himself.

For anybody with mesmer secondry or primary I suggest taking backfire, some interupts and a VERY quick casting spell and a few with long cast times, this way you can interupt him with power spike for damage and his casting of the other spells will slaughter him with backfire. Also, Empathy.
Edgwalkers is coming.

If you are ascending with a MONK i have an amazing tip!
you only need 2 skills:
1)Retribution - While you maintain this enchantment, whenever target ally takes attack damage, this spell deals 19-31% of the damage back to the source. In addition to the initial energy cost, you also lose 1 point of energy regeneration while the enchantment is in effect.
2)Holy Wrath - While you maintain this enchantment, whenever target ally takes attack damage, this spell deals 25%-59% of the damage back to the source, and you lose 10 energy. In addition to the initial energy cost, you also lose 1 point of energy regeneration while the enchantment is in effect.
Put all your attribute points in Smiting Prayers and the left overs in nothing
What you do is at the very begging of the fight you put these enchantments on yourself. (use Holy Wrath second because once your opponenet attacks you your energy is going to start depleating. (WARNING: what ever you do, do not attack your opponent.) When he/she starts attacking you he/she will end up taking more damage than you are taking and all you need to do is sit back and let yourself win.

with a Warrior is quiet easier...enough not to bring any skills, only get in hand your weapon and attack him...^^

The way i did it with my chars.
W/Mo
Take only Frenzy, dopple attack 33% fast but take 50% more damage, so when battle begins run to him don't use any skill, he will use frenzy, and that's just maths, 33% faster but 50% more dmg, take around 35 seconds.
E/Me
Meteor Shower, Firestorm, FireBall, dopple will cast firestorm on you, you cast Meteor shower which takes longer, no problem with that you take some dmg meanwhile, after finish cast meteor shower, you move away from firestorm area and cast firestorm on him, so his having meteor shower and firestorm on him and don't move from his place, noob, lol... finish him with fireball, take me about 15 seconds
Mo/Me (done last night)
Zealot's Fire, Symbol of Wrath, Healing seed,
Cast Zealot's before step on the last stone (before you enter), run to him, stay near him, cast symbol of wrath, and keep healing yourself, it have take me 32 seconds, don't know why but it seems it don't uses healing seed.
Everiytime you use healing it will take dmg from zealots, use your rod/staff to aditional dmg.

I had a time with my Ranger, till I stopped and thought about it, I took Power shot, and the rest spirits. Worked perfect, by the time he finished casting all the spirits he had round 100 health left. Remember you get the bonus's from the spirits as he casts. took round 30 seconds to do it.

actually, he is right...fishermans haven and sanctum kay are part of kryta...you can get there by going from lions arch, to bergen, to ToA, to fishermans, then to sanctum...so yeah, he is right. not to say your wrong (because if you do missions in order, you can go from maguuma), but the jungle isnt the only way.

Well you from the jungle back to kryta anyway through riverside providence and then sanctum cay is the final mission before heading to the desert and that is in Kryta.
