That seems like an entire redesign. I expect to see some free respecs lol. Gonna have to play this and see exactly how its gonna work lol.
Still.....SHEESH!!
Alot of people are gonna be ticked off about the killing of herding.
I seriously hope they have thoroughly tested out these new defense and to hit changes as well.
Bright side on that is....if lt and bosses have less to hit...then characters without much defense should come out slightly ahead on that one.
Still....thats ALOT of changes with a bigger impact than I can grasp atm.

It will certainly require a change in playstyle for MANY people, but I'm not sure that that's entirely undesireable.
PI will now lose it's PLer population as no one will be able to herd entire maps. The tankers in my SG have seen it coming, and frankly, they don't disagree with the change.
Controllers get a mixed bag, that is great for low level 'trollers (more damage? yay!), but a mixed bag for high levels who have customized builds to exploit (not the bad sort) use of pets and chain holds.
Blasters are being encouraged to be even MORE suicidal, while encouraging them to be intelligently suicidal.
I look forward to I5, and think it could be the best (if not most contraversial) issue yet!

Not better, not worse, just different. Well, Paragon City just became a little more dangerous. No more tanks herding super large groups and me taking them out by the dozens with Thunderous Blast. (That was always fun!) What good is raising my damage cap if I can only defeat 10 at a time? And it looks like my SR Scrapper got majorly nerfed as well. Oh well, it will definitely change some play styles.

I have a feeling that this one os gonna get a lot of tweeking before it avtually goes live.
there will be much complaining and much NERF crying... but you know... I love you troller and as much as I love my pets I knew it was comming.
States said "if you can solo your missions on invincable and have no problems then prepare for a nerf." I was ready and here it is.
The blaster changes... well it looks to me like they got a lot of love.
Tanks won't be constantly bombarded with requests for PL's, and I think some of these things will be good.
I'm looking forward to the new powersets... they sound amazing and the decreased debt in missions will kinda clear the streets a bit.
it may sound like a redesign but after having heard States speak on what the game was meant to be... well I think it's finally getting closer to what they wanted initally.
We'll just have to test and see how these changes affect our builds and see how many of them stay

I'll let you know if Blasters got any love, or if we were just thrown a bone when I get off of work. Personally, any power that get's better the closer you are to death isn't that great of a power. Especially when you can go from orange to dead before you can lob off a fireball.

well I saw somewhere on the site (I'll have to try to find it again) that when a blasters health get's to 5% you do 500% more damage... now that to me is crazy.

From just reading the changes, it looks great! The heroes had it a bit too easy. I hope I finally have to step down from invincibilty, and become rugged again. My only worry is that I won't be able to hold enough aggro, and the squishies will drop around me.

We got our HP increased too, which has been a long time coming. The thing that I don't like is having my Inferno nerfed though. Trying to be open minded, gonna go play around on test...

Ahhhh, thank you, knew about desperation but didn't know about the other stuff.
Yes, more hit points is a perc. Enabling us to take more damage4, and seeing that current damage will be going down is a perc. (I can appriciate that blasters SHOULD be the least defensive players in the game, however seeing that tanks and scrappers quickly become more offensive the higher they get, while blasters remained the same, always felt kinda...odd to me.)
Yeah, I'm a little concerned about the nerfing to my AOE's. ESPECIALLY since I'm an AOE toon.
I'm also concerned with my Inferno blast. I've found myself surrounded to many times where out of shere desperation I pop it off. Now doing more damage with it when I redline is great...but the problem is often times I find myself STILL SURROUNDED because I only hit half the buggars anyway. Even with a SO accuracy enhancement and even cons. I'm not saying that the Nova blasts of this game should be 100%, but perhaps with desperation we should be seeing an accuracy boost as well.

This is the most optimistic outlook that I've seen about the update. I honestly have to lean more toward the disgruntled side myself. I'm in the military, so I'm not an advocate of change. I love CoH and the updates that the Devs supply, but I don't understand the changes that aren't content related. I've got a lvl 40 Controller, and he is by no means "uber." Now, I won't be able to run missions by myself because I'll only have 3 Phantoms and 1 Phantasm to take the aggro. Plus, my few holds have been reduced in length and increased in recharge. The lower level Controllers are really getting the shaft. What's the point in playing the hardest AT if there isn't a reward? Now, you won't even get much help post-32. This one is ridiculous.

I saw the news, and am dowloading it now. Just 1:30 hour yay! How I love DSL ;) but seeing the changes, most of them are not that good. I mean, blasters were already good, why give them more hp and dmg? That was not really neccesary. Changes I do like are more dmg for scrappers and the blaster new inherent seems good. Im still a bit confused and need to sum it all up, but overall Im liking it. Tankers herding capacity was way out of chart. Well have to play and see.
EDIT: About the controller changes, I see most ppl (including myself) are really against them. Since this is still on test, I hope devs will take players opinions in account.

I'm worried about my tank. i'm definitely not liking what i'm reading about reducing the defense bonus. The whole point of being a tank is to take a lot of damage! how can we do our jobs if we can't take a lot of damage?!

I'm posting screenshots now. I've run a few Croatoa missions. Pretty cool stuff. NIFTY new temp power called the Divining Rod. 20 charges only, but it does INSANE damage against Ghosts.

After reading some of the posts on the official site, I think some people failed to realize that with the pet nerf, Phantasms are still able to make other Phantasms, you just cant make another yourself. Seems like Illusion is now, FOTY. The boost to blasters should make playin my blaster even more fun than he already is. Im really diggin the Defiance ability. I will admit that my jaw dropped to the floor when I saw the agonizingly long list of "fixes" they plan on implementing with I5, however, I will try to remain optimistic about the whole deal and whatever happens....happens. But ruining too much of a good thing will only spell disaster for the game as a whole. I hope the Devs take the feedback from players very seriously or they might see their dreams and visions in the toilet.
And yes i meant to type FOTY, Flavor of the year, no one will want to play any other type of controller... if at all.

F THAT!!! no stacking of pets?? That's what I love about this game. I love seeing all my phantasms with their decoys and my phantom army. THIS SUCKS!! Just becasue I can solo a mission on invincible doesn't mean that it's easy or unrewarding. ANd I thought all these new issues, 1-4, were making this game better, but issue 5 sucks. Forget new powers, I want my pets.

So, put things like Damage Enhancements and the like in your pets. I'm sure they'll still be quite effective.

I am having a slight (slight? major!) problem with download. It started well but now it seems togo back to connecting and take a long time to do so. I quit the test updater and try again and i never moves from connecting screen. I try with normal game and it works perfectly! coneects ultrafast, verifies ultrafast as italways happens. Why does the test dont work then???

Because of the new issue, it's going to take some time. I think I just happened to get lucky. I was on for a little while, now I can't get back on. Just be patient, it'll get there.

well you can have PA and Phantasam out at the same time, but just not 3 phantasams... which is no big deal for me.
Most pople I've heard are complainging about the fact that they really took away a controllers controlling ability... I have yet to test this... I logged on into to Croatoa for a few moments, ran into Nakoma and we went and played with sonics and Archers.
Best I can tell you.... archers are tons of fun. I like the Fistful of Arrows power... looks cool, cool name... suprised they let them use it since there's the "risk" of a law suit from the Fistful; of Dollars folks.. but hey.
Flash arrow... really cool... it's a precussion grenade basically. They're not locked down like an ill trollers flash, but they are "blinded into melee range" they will attack when you attack them... but their accuracy takes a hit.
sonics are gonna be a nice set to have around... Sonic Barrier... wow, nice to have on... makes you invulnerable practically to toxic,smashin and leathal if I remember correctly.
I only took her to lvl 6... but I'd like to get on with someone's high lvl... PL her a little bit to see the higher lvl powers.
I think it's cool that they put on War Witch... and yes she's dead, she died in the last commic before they switched. Makes me wonder where Apex and Horus are... would love to see them in game. Especially now that Apex has War Withches Sword... I wonder if that takes him from, being a MA scrapper to a BS scrapper... :)

I restarted the comp and tried again. It was on connecting for a good time, but now its up and running. Almost there!

My biggest problem controller-wise is the hold nerfs... having multiple pets out makes a controller a demi god, and most controllers can't deny that. But if you can't stack your pets, you have to fall back more heavily on your holds... which are getting the nerf bat too. I really hope they reconsider this, and scale back a bit before going live like they usually do.

Damm, I'm having the same problem as Samurai. I've left my test download screen on for three hours now and it hasn't budged. Even restarted my computer and had no luck. I really wanted to check out that new stuff too...*grumble*...hopefully support gets back to me and can help...
