so what mods are worthwhile?

i've had Red Orchestra installed... i've been playing Fragops occasionally... and just last night i installed Carball on a clanmate's recommendation...

personally i think RO is very interesting, although a bit slow for my taste... to be honest it's somewhat refreshing to have a more realistically-shooting game (no crosshairs :o ) , but i think the game would do better in organized competition than random pub games, because in pubs once some random noob grabs one of your team's limited # of machine guns you're pretty much boned...

fragops i think is actually very solid and (if people weren't so stubborn) could grow into a huge mod... ironically, if it wins the Make Something Unreal Contest, it would probably become popular sooner because people would rather buy "Frag Ops the new sorta CS-type game" than "UT2004 and then you download that mod"... again... people are strange...

now carball on the other hand is a relatively small mod (it's not a total conversion), but really packs in some fun times... it's basically like soccer, but you roll around in scorpion-esque buggies that are even customizable to a degree... there's of course powerups around the map, and as you crash around you take damage and must either pick up wrench "health" powerups or face death and a nice respawning back on your end of the field... although not as deep as a total conversion, this can be ridiculously fun when on TS with friends... last night me and 2 other guys (we had all just started playing last night) hopped in a server and got geek-served by 3 more experienced carball players... we lost like 9-1 but it was hilarity the whole time...

one thing that i think might improve carball is if your respawn time was a bit longer so it penalized dying and rewarded killing more... as it is now it simply takes the other person out of position for the time being and, while great for saving breakaway goals or clearing a path for one, doesn't really accomplish all that much in most instances...

i've heard of quite a few other mods including Troopers and the RTS-style TC, but not much details... anyone got any suggestions/comments about these or other mods? there's so many out there it's hard to know what's worth the time and installation...
