Not that Iam complaining but I was wondering exactly how bad are the Nerfs to the tanks defense. I guess we can thank all the guys that beg us tanks to herd for them so they can power lvl. Just goes to show you what happens when folks decide to exploit aspects of the game ( Exploit it and the Nerfs will come) Anyway Iam new to the game and to this site so any info would be greatly appreciated thanx all.

i don't really play a tank so i'm not sure how bad the nerfs are.... i do know that what is on test right now will be tweaked and re-tweaked b/f it hits live servers so i wouldn't worry too much quite yet.... now once it gets closer to coming to the live servers we will all have a better idea about what changes theya re actually making

The main complaint I've heard from the Tanks is that they're POed at the Taunt change. It's harder to herd now because Taunt is only affecting 5 mobs at a time. So no more rounding up an entire mission map and wiping it out.

Oh no you DIDN'T!
Mob = Mobile = One single Non-Player Character - It's a term that goes back to the old MUD days and has continued being used in the current MMORPG scene. Since I AM an oldschool MUDer, I tend to use it.
So NYEAH!!! :P

Unforutately most of these people arnt old enouth to remember that and its not a CoH term. I barely remember that term from games nobody plays since the 80's.
In case anyone's wondering hes taking about mobile vs. stationary (or static) NPCs. The ones we fight are all mobile and the contacts are stationary. Strangly they also have some of the glowies set up as static NPCs.

Frankly I really don't care about Taunt, I care about my Defense! I love Taunt now that I got it, but I've been with it for a very short while so I can let it go, but my Defense is my lively hood.

:/ hate to say it but...tanks have actually been needing this for a while.
Like they said...if you can solo invincible...prepare for a nerf.
While I don't like that fact that taunt only hits 5 mobs (yes i say it too!!) I can understand why it was done....though i think you can change it back because those tanks with aoe DOT will just use those to pull instead.
Mud pots works fine for my earth tanker.
I would say...considering the nerfs even tweaked will prolly be major....I'm guessing you'll be limited grabbing things 2 lvls above you in larger groups. That would be like what....half of the 4 lvl above you it is currently?
DEF and RES is being cut by what 2/3?
LT, Boss, and Elite Boss having accuracy nerfed by maybe 1/3?
Minons, monsters, and arch villains are being left alone.
This means also though....minions will be a greater part of the threat than they used to be.
Nothing is final yet...wait till it goes live to see how it ends up. Even then it could still change.

Tested Frozen today, I was taking the hits well agains same lvl baddies, have not had the chance to run my +3 herding mission to see about "herdablilty" yet and also my health bar VS +3 baddies.

My Invuln/SS tanker is 50 so it don't hurt so much there. I have a lvl 20 Fire/Energy tanker which I will no longer play though. I doubt I will create anymore tanks in the future if the changes go live and stay that way.

Speaking from a primarily Tank point of view, I myself am obviously anxious about any pending changes to my power set, however, remain open minded and confident that the creators of the game know what they're doing.. Changes to taunt in particular are really of absolutely no concern to me at this point, since my Tanker, which is also my primary character, does not even have Taunt.. even at level 44..
The reason being, this is my character.. I did not select Tanker to comply with everyone else's need for a stereotype, nor did I select Tanker to perform a particular "job" for anyone else or team of anyone elses.. I chose the archetype for myself. I built my powerset around what I wanted and how I wanted the character to develop. Less effective Taunt ? OK. Like it was said, abuse it - get it nerfed.

As for the prospect of herding I have yet to do that or even want to try it. When I am running with a group we take one group at a time w/ the occassional 2 do to Murphy's law ( someone wanders / miss use of AOE's etc.) I find that there is less problems that way. Call me conservitive but debt sux!It also may be that my groups tend not to have a a lack Blasters, just a hodge-podge of tanks, scrappers, trollers and defenders (not uncommon to have 4+ tanks and mix of the others.

Please, just remember that the only way to get changes rolled back at all is to play the character on test. Transfer the character over to the test server. Play it like you would normally play and see how it goes. It's entirely possible it'll be totally playable. If it's not, it will give the devs information to be datamined, so that they can see that the changes are too drastic.

Umm, I think my biggest concern about tanks (seen as I usually play the squishies) is that with taunt only effecting 5 "mobs" is that if we run into a group of 6 people, whoever hits the 6th gets the agrro. Herding may be fun but I think the game can go on without it. I have a friend with a lvl 50 who took it to test and said she could still herd fine, just had to use multiple taunts.
But again this is going to lead to problem with us AoE Blasters, and Controllers catching some of the aggro on bigger groups than 5.

Not big fan of the dictionary, which my spelling can show a lot of the time, but from playing other RPG type game always heard bad guys refered to as mobs regardless as to how many are in the group.

Actually, in MMORPG terms, a MOB and a VILLAIN are the same thing.
Mob stands for Mobile. Which is a moving, non player character. Generally when we refer to a large or disorderly crowd, we call them a "group".
It's good to know this because a LOT of people refer to a single target as a Mob. This was in another thread recently also, but it comes from the old school MUDs (Multi-User Dungeon/Dimension).

Actually, Positron said that they have no problem lowering AV accuracy to 75% instead of the 90% it is now. If i can find the post i'll provide a link to it.

I have yet to spend a lot of time with my tank on test yet. but I think the taunt thing concerns me most from what I've heard. My concern is when a second or third group is accidentaly aggroed by a misaimed shot, debuffed mob running through, badly placed AOE or a renegade scrapper it will be much harder to gain control of all the baddies. I understand the reasoning but like a lot of things a "few" people" abusing herding and we all get hit for it, many missions have more than 5 MOBs in a group. Now limiting to 15 or 20 I think would be better, you could hnadle 2-3 groups, but not herd a full mission. They could also increase taunt recharge but also the effect time, so you could hold the attention of the group you have for a long time, but not be able to taunt 15 over and over to get the whole mish.
well that is my "complaint" and suggestion
