First off, thanx for such a great site. I've gotten so much good info here and send all my friends here as well.
Now to my question: I recently saw a hero that had interesting chat bubbles. The background (bubble color) and border seemed to be transparent. You could only see the black text.
I asked them how they did it, and they said it was a bind a friend came up with, but no longer remembered what it was.
Any thoughts on how they did it?
Thanks,
CALIGARI

I think if you go into Menu and choose Options, go to the Graphics tab, there is a section down at the bottom where you can change the color of your chat words and bubble.

But the options in in that options window can't do it all. I have seen bubbles with different color border then text, and Caligari is talking about transparent, which you also can't pull off. But you say there are bind commands to pull it off?

Well, I finally found the answer, and thought I'd share it with anyone that's interested:
It's basically a small tweak to the normal chat slash commands. Let's say you set up a bind to the [F9] key thus: | CODE | | /bind F9 ''beginchat < color #FFFFFF >< bgcolor #0000FF >< border #FF0000 >< duration 10 >< scale 2 >'' |
will start up chat with white text, red border, on a blue background, for 10 seconds, and in a slightly larger font when you press the [F9] key.
So...if you want the blue bubble background to be semi-transparent, simply set up the bind as: | CODE | | /bind F9 ''beginchat < color #FFFFFF >< bgcolor #0000FF55 >< border #FF0000 >< duration 10 >< scale 2 >'' |
Note the "55" as the fourth argument in the bgcolor section. I believe it's actually in hex (00-FF) corresponding to 0-255, with 00 being 100% transparent, and FF(255) being 100% opaque. It should work for all the color arguments as well.
It's another fun-but-useful-and-maybe-annoying little trick to make the time go by......enjoy !!!
