Armour: which sets are preferred

Just reached Droknar's...which armour sets for warriors is preffered by most? I like the energy from the Gladiator, but is the damage reduction from the Ascalon or Knights armour better in the long haul? Is the 85/10 of the platemail or wyvern armour that much better than the 80/10 or 80/20? Or at this point is it all about how you want your character to appear in the game?

Re: Armour: which sets are preferred

I like to mix and match different sets of armor but i like gladiator because of the extra energy. Now what i read somewhere in another forum is that 1 piece of the ascalon or knights armor is sufficient because it blankets the whole armor, and you can't stack the reducing affect just like you can't stack runes. The 85/10 gives you the extra 5 on all pieces against all types of attacks i think vs the extra 10 vs physical but in the ratio it is not so much of a difference i don't think... if you are still following with what i'm saying because i'm confusing myself. But anyway i think it's all up to personal choice, what you think will look best and there is not 1 type of armor that is way better than all the rest.

Re: Armour: which sets are preferred

well in my opinion it would depend on your second profession, and what attributes you use. if you are a tactics user, the extra energy from gladiators might not be that useful since you can use Bonnett's Defence

Bonetti's Defense
For 5-10 seconds, you have a 75% chance to block incoming melee attacks and arrows. You gain 5 energy for each successful melee attack blocked. Bonetti's Defense ends if you use a skill.

If you have it, you can use Warrior's Endurance (which is much better IMHO). It will give you 3 energy for each melee hit you take and will last about 15 sec depending on your strength. It will also allow you to use your skills during that time (which Bonetti's will not). Warrior's Endurance is an Elite you can pick up from several zones in the desert.

Warrior's Endurance Elite Skill
For 5-23 seconds, you gain 3 Energy each time you hit with a melee attack. Warrior's Endurance cannot raise your Energy above 5-17.

you forgot to mention it has a limit of how much energy you can gain. for warriors endurance (assuming max attribute) would get you 17-5 energy (5 being cost). IMO 12 energy gain isn't wortht he elite skill slot.
IMO the purpose of a energy gaining skill would be to use if you use alot of energy or if you are fighting an energy draining class, since bonnetti's is adrenaline skill it would allow you to use it at 0 energy and quickly reach your maximum (not to mention that you are also dodging attacks while gaining energy, and if you needed to use a skill like healing sig, use it just before it ends, and you will get the heal just as it fades)
