Gwen - What do you have to do?

There you are fresh out of Ascalon for the 1st time and a harmless little girl asks you to go get her flute. Her name is Gwen. You get the flute, its broken, you buy a new one, you buy her a cloak, you let her follow you all over ascalon yet she will not go away. Does anyone know what to do with this irritating little girl, if so please tell me.

Well, I one time wanted to have the lowest credibility on guildwars.gameamp and went almost to -200 in credit, but in the end decided to change my ways and have positive credit instead.

if you give her 5 red iris flowers she will heal you for 20 once in a while oh and she also gives you a tapastry shred or something close that item is still a mystery on what to do with it..

basically she is just there to follow you around you can click on her to have her stop but i liked the mini heals..

pretty sure its orisons since my pet didnt get healed and the enemy never got healed...

Its not the flowers that make her heal. Its the flute. And if you pay close attention you will hear a tune everytime you get healed :).

Also if you noticed at the bottom it says "Thankfully Gwen doesn't have heal area".

Yeah i was never able to have her heal for me but i thought that something cool should happen in post-searing because you gave her all this stuff in pre-searing.

She heals only after she has the flute and your life reaches a certain point...I estimate at a 60-70% decrease in health she uses her healing spell...

hmm weird.. I didnt get healed until I gave her the flowers maybe I didnt notice but I did the flowers last she already had her flute and cape at that point...

Hey, I used Gwen whenever i made a new characer since those early heals tended to help me a lot. Here is what info I know:

In order for her to heal, you buy her a flute, those are about 4 gold so it's easy to afford, even at you're starting lvls. She plays her flute and heals for about 20 health at early levels, however she doesn't do it too often, maybe once every minute or two.

Giving her Flowers will eventually get you a Tapestry Shred, although the exact amount appears random. My first character gave well over 25 flowers to get his while my second took only 7 or so.

As for her cape, i have no real connection with this except it might make her give you the tapestry set faster.

Some of you might say she has healed you without buying these items, this is part true. You see, when you party up with someone, 'your' gwen gets everything 'his/her' gwen had. So if my Gwen had a cape and flute, you're Gwen then gets it from now on, even if I leave your party. (This also saves you 200 when trying to get a cape, ask someone who gave it already to party you and walk outside ascalon).

i wonder about gwen..... a strange little child....when the game was beta, when the peoiple who owned it decided to stop giving it to the beta testers for free, they sent an army of gwens to kill evryone, and all the beta testers died because of this invasion of gwen. Im not too sure where but somewhere out there is som escreenshots of gwen killing everyone....

that's what everybody's wondering about and, from what I heard, it's a broken quest or something like that. We know that Gwen's parents can be found in Underworld but that's it...oh and you'll find more than broken flute but it really seems pointless...maybe in next chapter!

Many rumours going on, none of them are proven to be true yet. Some say you return the tapestry set to her mother for a "Find Gwen" quest, tried this, not working. Other's believe, the tapestry set + broken flute + tattered cape (which i forget where i found, i think it was enroute to Fisherman from Sanctum Clay), when you get all 3, it'll be used for a Future bonus level...identical to today's Cow Level in D2.

I could just picture what they would have in that level? Overpowered Charrs? Hundreds of Gwens that want to follow you? Large Parties of Glints? An Endless version of Undead Hordes with difficulty equal to Fissure Ones? I suggest you keep your tapestry set and other items...i reserved my first belt pouch that can't be upgraded to holding Gwen Items and Althea's Ashes. Might not have a use now, but it might later or else why add these items? Even the "Mark of Aiden" plays some role in the game.

Relevant Gwen Item Locations:
Red iris flower: Random throughout pre-searing
Gwens Broken flute:-By that lake in pre-searing
-Near Saderlac saniturim in Post Searing
Little Girls Cape: Merchant in pre-searing ascalon
Tattered Cape: Stingray Strand (fishermans haven) in post searing

Well R. Kelly didnt work so I went Rick James style crakaz. And i bought her a flute so she would shut up. But then after pouring do-do butter on a bandit i noticed Gwen healed me with a 10 point heal. So if you dont want to give 5 flower(they are worth 10gold each so better sell em to merchent)Buy the flute!

I'm pretty sure you get the shard after giving her one flower and one cape.

Gwen's a big mystery, I love it. Even though she's an annoying little girl she's the source of discussions all over the web. I hope there will come something nice out of it, hopefully in next expansion.

... did she ever die, or is she hiding out there somewhere, her innocense long gone and now filled her skillslots with pure damage ...

If its just gonna be some mission where you have to free her from somoeone like Ice Cave of Sorrow or the like that will be a downer, it has to be big, BIG I tell you, to satisfy the anticipations of the masses.

Gwen, come out, come out whereever you are.

I think gwen is dead. The "Small girls cape" you give her in pre searing is just like the "Tattered cape" in stingray strand. Gwen died in the searing, im sure of it, Or maybe she spawns from Glint's eggs! Anyways, i think that if there ever is a Gwen quest, youll have to bring the 3 "Gwen items" to her mother in the underworld.

I think that the broken flute in Post-Searing is just the place where Gwen died when the Searing began, how else can you explain this?!

And for the new casters, you can use the flute as an +1 Energy item :). Not very helpful but very funny.

I actually still have my flute and a Red Iris Flower on my main, level 20 character. The expressions people get when i say "Selling Red Iris Flowers and Flutes!" is hilarious! you guys should really try it :)

So here's my prediction on Gwen. Gwen got hurt and lost her memory. You will meet her years later (in a future chapter) going by a different name. If she sees your tapestry shred she will start to remember who she was and all that you did for her. She will then join you as a more powerful character (although still mostly focusing on heals). What do you guys think?

That's pretty much what everyone does to twist up plots.... (If you've ever seen Onegai Sensei, the boy loses his memory and time is reset and this girl moves in again, the boy remembered her due to an item slipped into his pocket before his memory was wiped.) However, I believe Gwen is probably dead, and ran away while in the Underworld. However, that does NOT explain her cape, she could have ran off and found a way around the charr or perhaps they took her prisoner, or even raised her as one of their own. Her cape was lodged so far away from home, and Ascalon is very far from a large body of water, sure a cape could blow away, but it couldn't go THAT far...She must have attempted to run away in order to send it that far, there's only a few excuses. She COULD have been captured and forgot all about the events that occured, she could have even been blinded by the searing, but we don't know what happened. It's just one of those plots people put in to keep people like us typing and hang us at the edge and etc, chances are you'll even find more Gwen items like her headband of flowers. I do remember finding a Red Iris Flower in post searing, but it was burnt or something, I can't remember.... Only time can tell what did happen so all we can do is wait.

You know in some legends dragons can shapeshift into humans. That could mean Gwen was actually Glint!

Ok that was far-reaching but that can explain why none of the monsters would attack Gwen and why she is to be feared.

Methinks that a likely explanation is that ANet wanted to keep us thinking, just to have fun laughing at the countless threads that were bound to appear when we discovered these post-searing items.

That or Gwen lost her shiny new flute you gave her, went to the desert, and became a nudist (hence why you find her tattered cape)...........

She was only about 5-10 at the most, a 12 year old nudist? Come on... Like stated, it might just be a joke by ANet, or it might be an inside joke that did occur (Like a child went missing after something lifechanging happened, like say the Berlin Wall falling down, and a girl getting kidnapped whilst leaving her items along the trail to finding her.) Note: The berlin wall event with the girl did not happen, so don't bother googling it... To be honest, I just think Gwen is dead altogether, but for some reason, I agree with the Theory of her being Glint. It makes sense, it is coherent, and it does explain why she tries to help you every now and then...
