Auction Bug Reporting

--- ATTENTION ----

When reporting auction bugs be VERY specific. To better fix your problem I'll need a few items of information from you to replicate your problem. Please use this format when reporting bugs:

What were you trying to do?
What went wrong?
What was the url you were on when the problem occured?
What browser are you using?

Please be as specific as possible and hopefully we'll be able to resolve your problems quickly.

Current Fixes / Additions

Need to fix:
Cancelled Auction shows up in completed auction

Fixed:
Users that are no longer logged in have the ability to buyout auctions
"Staffs" have been renamed to "Staves"
Added Pagination for Auction Listings
Duplicate bid amounts by same user
Move buyout link to price column
Dates on bid listings
Users who entered commas were lowering their minimum bid amounts
BMP thumbnails were not displaying properly, temporarily Disabled BMP support for creating auctions
Users can no longer post duplicate Auctions
The email links sent out when an auction is won is now properly linked to the auction
Feedback should now work properly
Tooltips for auction forms
Buyers should now see which auctions they've recently won in their profile
Link in notification emails now displays properly.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or whatever, but I'm a little confused. I was selling a mesmer rune of superior fast casting, and it says the auction has ended and the high bidder bid 500, which was the buyout price. Then, I clicked on the bid history, to find out who bid on it, and it says there were 0 bids. I am extremely confused.

Tha's a bug my friend! There were no bids on the auction, however the buyout price was being listed as your high bidder price.

I second that bug as well. Also noticed that the auction that was prematurely closed asks me for feedback. I assume this is to rate the buyer but wanted to give you a heads-up just in case.

Also, don't know if its a bug or a feature--I cancelled one auction to create another to correct it, and the cancelled one shows up under completed auctions in the seller profile.

Editted yet again: just noticed the bidding history section is a little buggy. http://guildwars.gameamp.com/trade/viewTra...p!viewbids=true

The dates are wrongly displayed, people bid the same amounts, and the table doesn't seem to be sorted. Hope this helps

Not really bugs, but something I noticed and a few suggestions I'll offer.

On the "Create Auction" page, "Array" shows next to the auction type drop-down box. I'm sure that wasn't intended. ;)

Also, I'd probably put one-liner descriptions (like tooltips or something) for the last few things. For instance:

Starting Bid - Set the minimum bid desired for your auction.
Increment - Set the bidding increment for your auction.
Reserve - You are not obligated to sell if your reserve price is not met.

and so on... Something to that effect. I think most people are familiar with an auction system (thank you eBay) but no doubt someone will come along that doesn't know what "increment" means... :P

Last suggestion is, on the auction listing main page, I think the "Buyout" button would be better placed under the price column, rather than the bid column. Thoughts?

Anywho - like I said the last two things are just my own personal thoughts, take them with a grain of salt.

Dont know if its necesary and you might have probably seen it already, but just to make sure :).

It does seem that you have secured your script enough, because as you can see 1,000 is not the highest bid, though it sais it is.

Anyway, for a solution you should let it check the info before actualy putting it in the database.

Right, unfortunatley what I'm gonna have to do with that auction is allow the seller to cancel and start over. It's not fair to him that the code allowed bidders to bid lower then intended.

The bid of "4" is actually 4000, but since there was a comma it threw the system off. The bids continued according to the increment and each bidder fairly bidded on the auction and each will feel a lil miffed since because of the bug.

But, it did get a 4,000 bid and the auction should have continued with increasing bids though it did not. I'll contact the auctioner and see what he would like to do.

I tried adding a new (6th) auction and I think it closed another one on me as a result. Seems to be related to the "completed auction 1 high bid with 0 total bids" bug.

It's like each user can only have 5 auctions active at any one time--which would be fine by me, I would just need to ladder them better :)

I wonder if a "Collector's Rewards" category can be put in. All too often I think I'm going to be looking at some "Godly" item only to see that it's just another item from a collector.

I'm not saying collector rewards are junk, but I am saying the auction board will soon be flooded with these items just like the in-game trade channels, making it harder for people to find other items.

Maybe even have a voting system so shoppers can ID it themselves as such: "15/16 voters agree this item is a collector's reward, and will be moved to the Collector's Rewards category at 51/100 votes"

Also, this early in the auction house, sub-categories may be good, too. Something class-based may work; you can always put the data together in a combobox query if its separated out well. A little redudant, but you'd cut out 5/6th of the data used in the search right off the bat in most cases, e.g.

Warrior/Weapons/Axes/Cleavers;
Necro/Runes/Major/Death;
Monk/Offhand/Healing Ankh;
Ranger/Weapons/Bows/Short Bow;
All Classes/Runes/Superior/Vigor

Just a few comments and sugestions:

What the holy does increment mean? :P (righty, I looked it up in my advanced learners dictionary and it seems right.)

Right, browsing auctions especially the price bit confuses me.

Item Name: Ok
Category: Ok, but....
- When I placed a bid in dye category I get linked to main category afterwards. Personally I would prefer ending at the auction I just bid on.
Price:
- This bit is a wee confusing. It says a number and then below it buyout. I take it the number is minimum bid, and you will have to click the buyout to figure how much buyout price is.
- I would prefer to see this when I just look down the lists. Minimum bid price, if no one have placed one yet, else show highest bid and state a bid increasement (increment)
- The buyout price should also be visible without having to click.
- I suggest that bid increase amount is a must on all auctions, even if its just one which is default now.
- I suggest if there are bids within the last 15 minutes of an auction it is prolonged with 15 mins after last bid.
Bids: Ok
Time: Ok

Some of this might already be implemented, but I think the price field could be used much better and provide more information for the person browsing.

I'm sorry if this looks a bit confusing.

i got a suggestion...why dont you just model off ebay?
I'm sure you tried, but maybe put the buyout price under "buyout"..

also..its annoying to have incriments of 1...maybe you could change it to 50 minimum?

My problem:

I recently bid on an Ebon Composite Bow of Warding, my bid was 2,600 after a lengthy competition with other bidders, the thing is it will not show that i have won in my auction profile, all it showed until the auction was complete was my initial bid and the fact that that bid had been outbidden. So i am wondering how come it will not show that i have won the auction?

Maybe, like ebay, show your last bid on an auction, if you have placed one. And the current one.

When there is a bidhistory it would be possible to backtrack latest bid from the user looking at the auctions yes?

Or possibly make the current price red for instance to indicate that you, the user logged in and browsing the auctions have placed a bid on the auction but now is outbid and then maybe blue if its your bid that's currently the highest.

Just playing with thoughts that will minimize the amount of text needing to be shows, things can get overcrowded too...

Note really a bug, but a suggestion:

Can we have a category called '(weapon) upgrades'.

And maybe splitting up the wpns for classes, I know that will give a great deal of categories, but it will be much easier to find what one seeks.

I'm not sure if its a bug or if I just made a mistake, but I noticed that an auction I have for a major abs. rune has the current bid at 2 gold!

I meant to start it pretty cheap at 2k...I think I may have left the "reserve" field blank since I didn't understand the difference between that and "starting bid".

To clarify, I created the auction with these fields (if I remember right):

start bid: 2000
increment: 500
reserve: null
buyout: 10000

And I now have 1 bid on there for 2 gold, which should be impossible unless I am badly misunderstanding something.

1.I won an auction and there appears to be no record of the completed auction

2. The in game name should be visible to both parties upon completion of an auction, maybe add it to the profile.

The auction still had a couple days on it... It says there was 4 bids on it with high bid being buyout, but the history clearly says there were only 2 bids.

I bidded on a Hammer for 1500, when the time ended and I was the only bidder, it showed no record of me bidding on it. This is really making me angry and frustrating after saving to get this hammer.

I should have fixed a few issues this morning including links in emails, the ability to see the auctions you've recently won and perhaps the ability to post feedback on your buyer/seller.

A little feedback here would be great to see if these items work in the Auction System.

Hello Everybody! I'm new in town... and I thought I should contribute too.

I placed some items for auction and I noticed some minor/major bugs:

--- Unexpected end of an auction: I placed a Half Moon of Shelter in category Bows and it qould not go there (the form automaticaly placed it under Armor/Gear) and after 2 days the auction closed although it was set for 5 days. Under my selling profile it appears like this:
Completed Auctions: Half Moon of Shelter (Golden)
Price: 6,000 no bidders
Views: 10
Bids: 1
End Date: Ended on 8-20-2005
Actions: Leave Feedback

The Buyout Amount was 6000 and original price 2500.

--- As a seller you can't see his Full Details regarding an item placed for auction (I mean Buyout; Reserve). If you place a lot of items you sometimes forget your own prices :)

--- People should not be allowed to sell Customized Items (that's sick). I just saw a customized sword: http://guildwars.gameamp.com/trade/viewTrades/1880.php

--- Plural for Staff is Staves / not Staffs :P

--- Canceled auctions are counted as completed auctions

UPDATED FIXES: 8-22-2005

Until recently users who were not logged into the site could see the buyout link. They were given the option to buy an item out however since they were not logged in, no account was attribuited to the bid.

This often left sellers confused because there would be no high bidder associated with the prematurely ending auction.

This issue should now be resolved.

hi dont know if this right place for this but in my other mmrpg games if you put somthing up for auction and it bid on then you have to sale it to the winner. or if you bid then u buy if you dont then you banned from usein the auction on here how ever i see no such thing and as it is i won a bid but the guy had alrdy sold the sword to the guy i was biddin against b4 the auction had ended. this can not be right surly.
