| Weekend at the Gov's Place (14Oct-16Oct2005) |
10/18/05 - 09:07 |
Last weekend started the way it usually does. Stay up until 9PM Friday night playing CoH with the Veggie Medley when I felt ill. Told them I would be back in two hours (hoping I could sleep it off) and ended up waking at 8AM(for some reason the military has conditioned me for sleeping 4-6 hours and thinking anymore is to much) and jump on the game. Played for a few hours and walked to the Blockbuster. I rented Shaolin Soccer, The Jacket, and some other movie I can't remember. I recommend, if you haven't already, going and getting Shaolin Soccer and The Jacket. The Jacketis a movie about a Gulf War veteran whom returns home and suffers bouts of amnesia. While hitch hiking in his home state of Vermont, the stranger who picked him up get pulled over by a cop and so he (the driver) kills the cop. The veteran wrongly gets accused of the killing and is sent to a asylum and is treated with experimental procedures by some sadistic therapy doctor. They put him in a heavy duty straight jacket, shoot him up with some stuff, and stuff him in one of those morgue body drawers. During his time on the slab inside the drawer, he experiences flashbacks and at the same time, he is transported to the year 2007 where he finds out that he is supposed to die in 4 days time (not the future 2007...but his orignal timeline). This begins his race to find out how he is supposed to die, and try to prevent it. Watch the movie to find out more about this darkly twisted movie, because its really good. Lead Actor is Adrien Brody (The Village, King Kong) and Actress is Kiera Knightly (Pirates of the Carribean, King Arthur) and Actor Kris Kristofferson (Blade 1, Blade 2).
Shaolin Soccer is a hilarious martial arts action/comedy written, directed, and played by Stephen Chow (Kung Fu, Kung Fu Hustle 2). The main character of the movie (Chow) reunites his Shaolin brotherhood, and with their unique special arts, take on the world of soccer. Many laughs ensue at the expense of the actors and actresses that play in the film, while at the same time giving enough action to quench any action film fan's thirst. I highly recommend you see it for just the right amount of laughter mixed with action to make a rainy day go away. Well that was my weekend in a nutshell and thanks for tuning in. |
