NCSoft Corporation and Vivox have announced a partnership to bring scalable and full featured voice chat to NcSoft's online games (including City of Heroes/Villains). The partnership will create an NCSoft branded portal through which players will be able to communicate within and across NCSoft games. In addition to voice chat, Vivox will also offer advanced features such as voice fonts, voice mail and in-and-out of game communication via regular phones.
Vivox is an industry leader in providing voice chat to online games and virtual worlds. They currently serve millions of users in 180 countries. Their customers include Sony Online Entertainment, CCP Games, Icarus Studios, K2 Network, Linden Lab, Pixel Mine Games and Wizards of the Coast.
Lighthouse on the official City of Heroes forums has clarified here that the voice features will be offered through the PlayNC Launcher and not directly through the game itself.
