David Anthony was the top German researcher in the agricultural field dealing with gene splitting of vegetables. He had already introduced a new hybrid of spinach that contained 200% of the daily nutrients normally found in spinach. His latest project was increasing the antioxidants and nutrients of carrots as well as tightening the molecular bond for a stronger root system.
Agriculture has always come natural to David. His Father was a famous scientist in genetics while his grandfather was a farmer (he must have been a wonderful farmer; he was always out standing in his field).
David was studying a sample from a pumpkin that was obtained from Croatoa by a local superhero. He had mixed the genes from the pumpkin and spliced them with the carrot’s genetic code. He was going over his research notes when he reached for his glass of juice he made with his Jack Lelane Juicer.
What David did not realize was that his whole life was about to change. Instead of his drink, he picked up the beaker of genetically altered carrot juice. It wasn’t until he had drunk most of the beaker did he realize what he had done. Everything quickly went orange... then black.
When he came to, he was in the hospital. He had apparently been in a coma for about 2 weeks. When all the excitement of his recovery died down and everyone was out of the room, he unplugged the wires and tubes and put his clothes on. He looked it the mirror and was surprised to see that his skin was a soft shade of orange. He stumbled backwards and knocked into another bed with a patient who had been badly burned. He turned and touched the man to say sorry. A green glow came from David’s hand and the man’s burns were healed.
David went back to his lab and began to piece together what had happened. It took time but David has learned that the altered juice he drank gave him tremendous healing abilities. For strange reason the formula had also tightened and strengthened his vocal cords and diaphragm. This was an effect that wasn’t realized until he hit his toe on the bed post while going toward the bathroom in the middle of the night. He screamed out, and the sound waves knocked his cat across the room and into the hallway. He had a bit more fun with his cat that night, but at least he learned to control his sonic power.
He has taken on the title of Das Carrot to help support the heroes of this world. David is still finding more advancement in his powers including absorbing the pain of others, which effectively heals them and being able to call his friends immediately to his side (which he also practiced with his cat (that cat is very twitchy now)).
He has teamed with other heroes similar to him when he joined “The Vegetable Medley”.
He strives to be out standing in a field of his own some day.
His adventure was about to begin…
